and all were negative for new cancers.  He did have 6 polyps removed, but all were benign.  Whew!  Numbers were very close to a "guaranteed" cancer, so that was a big relief.  When he had prostate cancer surgery, his PSA almost guaranteed invasive cancer, too, but that was not the case, then, either.  I guess his numbers just run high...lucky him!  Guess it's time to schedule my first colonoscopy, too.  Oh, joy.  I just remember JoAnnie telling about her colonoscopy experience...they shot her up with some nice drugs, and she said she was just laying there on the table, thinking to herself..."hmmm, well, it's better than being at work!"  LOL.  Funny how much a part of my life she STILL is, after all these years.

Whew is right! It is great that he got such a good report. Oh yes, the colonoscopy! The prep is far worse than the procedure. Not fun at all!!! But it is one of those things that needs to be done, especially after having other cancers. As for JoAnnie, I often think of her, too. Sometimes it is with a chuckle and others it is a sad thought because she is gone from our present. Memories are good, though! Hugs MK

Great news!  That is wonderful.  My DH had his first colonoscopy this year and he agrees - the prep is much worse than the procedure.

Don't hesitate to make your appointment for the colonoscopy. Both Wes and I had ours in the last couple of months and breezed through them. Wes's prep was much easier than mine, the prep his doctor had him drink was not nearly as much as I had to drink. I was all worked up about having one because a few years ago I had a sigmoidoscopy in the doctors office and thought that I was going to die!!!  I have a spastic colon and it was going crazy on me. The doctor did it without giving me any medication!!!!  From now on, I would schedule a colonoscopy without a second thought. All that worrying was for nothing, I don't even remember the procedure at all. (Good drugs!)

Get it done, you will be so glad that you did my friend.

Debbie...i'm going to do that. I have an appt with my family doctor. He is leaving practice in January to practice hospital medicine, and i'm sure that he would love to set me up with a colonoscopy as part of my final visit with him, as lord only knows i have been SUCH a pain in the butt to him all these years! lol

I was also a good girl (Ellen, take note) and went to my gynocologist earlier this month for my second year in a row for my annual checkup. ( I had bee lax about that the last, oh, five years before that...)

My, isn't getting old a grand thing!

Would love to see more posts from you, Debbie. Funny how busy our lives become...

Wow Bev I am impressed. I have to tell you about the colonoscopy I had while on chemo and rads. They decided that I needed the big nasty jug to drink. Now please remember I threw up my entire treatment. Good news there was I lost over 50 lbs. LOL I was told if I threw up with the medicine I would have to start over. You have no idea how awful it was to try to decide which end was going to win. There I sat on the potty with a trash can in my arms. Dh had to do some talking to get me to do that again. First thing he did was educate me on what medicine to insist I would take. Next thing he did was remind me a little potty time or cancer treatment? I have to admit he was right. spent some time on the potty went to the hospital in the morning and had a polp removed which came as a shock. I could not tell they had done anything. The way I see it that sure beat anything colon cancer has to offer. The big plus is your dh does not get to say you are full of it no matter what you say for about 24 hours. Take my word for it...I worked that one. LOL Love and hugs. Joyce
