What are all the breast friends doing for Christmas this year?

My husband says we are cutting back this year...ah, perhaps that would work if HE were to do the Christmas shopping!  All my kids and grandbaby and grandpuppies and grandkitties will be here, so I am very excited about that.  They should arrive en masse tomorrow, and I can hardly wait!  having the grandbaby so far away is really hard!  She'll be here for 10 days, and i'm sure she'll have me worn out.  First on her list of "Can we's" is "make a gingerbread house."  Anybody out there ever made a gingerbread house?  Not I!  But I guess I'm going to be learning.  i have discovered that Wilton makes a kit that has all the pieces and candies and everything, and all you have to do is glue the silly thing together, so i'm going to be hunting for one of those tomorrow, I think.  If I can't find one...well, just wish me luck!  LOL  I must say, our thanksgiving wasn't as much fun as it should have been, although we accomplished everything on the "can we" list.  I lost my beloved Hershey dog the day after Thanksgiving, probably from a cancer in the spleen, but we don't know for sure, as the biopsies they did came back negative.  But he went very quickly, and for that I am thankful (I can say that a month after the fact, but I must admit, being thankful has been a difficult place to find in my grief). So, another light in my life has been snuffed by the demon.

Well, crap.  this was supposed to be a friggin' happy post!  I guess I'll just end by saying, I hope everyone's christmas is better than my Thanksgiving was!

Christmas, yeah! I can tell you what I am doing this year  --  giving thanks for my life, my doctors, my family and friends and heallingwell. Four years ago today, I had my mastectomy, and on January 5th I have a ps appointment to talk about reconstruction.  I'll be with my family this year -- our family is getting "smaller" so we are all looking forward to being together.  Over the years, we've lost several wonderful, older members -- none of us left are past 65, but we're getting there!!  Christmas breakfast this year will again at my house, with only 12 attending, but what a great time, it will be! Thank you God for everything.

So may I just say Merry Christmas to everyone on this board and I'm wishing you all the best for the coming year.

For the first time ever, my mother did not feel up to hosting Christmas this year, so I am...yikes!! Thirteen people, when I have china place settings for 12!! But it should be fun. My brother and his wife are in from California, my (pregnant !!!) niece from Boston, and my nephew from Cincinnati. Both of my kids will be here, too. Brother and sister-in-law will be staying here for a few nights, so it will be a noisy and tiring (but fun) holiday.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, etc etc etc!

I will be spending the holidays with friends who are more like family.  My family is cutting back, too, by not having our usual gift exchange, so the presents to open will be less, but that's OK.  I am just grateful for my health, my family, everyone here on healing well, and that I made it through the first 6 months of school.  YEAH!

We are going to Carolyn's for a Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange. I was cutting back, too, until I had such a good time shopping on line that I got carried away as usual. Thanks to my dear grand daughter the packages are all wrapped ready to go, except for a couple of last minute additions when I decided I needed to do a little evening out..... We are going to put our tree up today, I guess. It is up to the two of us again after years of kids, grand kids, etc. decorating it for us. Christmas Day is going to be just the two of us, too, and I asked DH what he wanted for dinner, meaning, "Do I have to fix the turkey in the freezer?" He said he thought bacon, eggs and home fries sounded good. Hey sounds good to me, too. So between today and tomorrow I have to make some Jello salads and rolls for tomorrow's dinner. I think I can handle that.

Carolyn is still feeling good. Chris has not yet gotten the report of her biopsies. My mother sinks deeper into lala land all the time. Last night I told her I had made Poteca, a Slavian nut roll bread that she made year after year for Christmas and she asked what it was. I described it and she said she didn't remember making it. Sad, sad, sad. She was still doing some baking five years ago. At least she is in no pain and somewhat happy, except she hates for anyone to tell her what to do. A woman who has been controlling and bossy for all her life doesn't like it when someone tells her what to do, imagine that? LOL

I still have not sent out one card and it is too late for Christmas, maybe next month I will get an early start on next years????? I just don't manage to do what I used to do.

Happy Holiday, what ever you celebrate, and a happy healthy New Year to all.

I am going to my step daughters home. I just love to go up to her house. The three grandchildren are such a joy and to think the shower for Liana was the day before my surgery and now there are three of them and I am so fortunate to have been given these extra years. I know one thing I will not be eating Christmas dinner and getting talked into that fittness Wii. Not happening. If they turn wii on I dial 9ll. Told them mom mom is listed with the historical society and can not eat and wii. Tee hee. I of course hate to shop so the lousey part of Christmas is almost finished and the great part starts. You know the part where you eat anything you want and because its the holiday Santa has taken the calories out. You know there is nothing like making the rounds to all your friends and family and spreading some smiles and everyone taking a break from listening to the gloom and doom of the economy. For one week we all get to say HO HO HO and smile and enjoy just being able to share the holiday with everyone. So since I am unable to pop in on all of you, I want to wish you all a very Happy Holiday and a healthy New Year. Love to all Joyce

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas! I haven't posted in some time, but I stop by every now and then to see how everyone is doing. We didn't cut back this year for Christmas and wouldn't you know it, I took my Yorkie to the vet today and she needs to have surgery. Oh well...I guess I will worry about that after Christmas. My sister and brother in law, along with their daughters and granddaughter will be here on Christmas Day. My house is where we gather for holidays since my mom died. I miss her more at Christmas than any time of the year. We will go visit my mother in law tomorrow and then back for church tomorrow night. No snow here for Christmas this year...just rain.

I have been doing very well. For those of you who don't know me. I was first diagnosed in 1994 and then had mets in my lung in 1999. Thankfully, it was operable and I have been cancer free since. I just had to have a lump removed, but it was scar tissue from the radiation. The doctor first did a needle biopsy and the report came back scar tissue and calcifications. But, the actual lump changed so much after the needle biopsy, the doctor decided to go ahead and remove it.

I'm trying to finish up a graduate degree. Hopefully I'll graduate in May 2010. That's about all the updates I have. I have you all have a blessed Holiday Season.
