I know I'm blond, but I thought I was smarter than this. For more than 2 years now, I thought that I had a large group of crickets and secadas at my woodsy house, but it recently got louder after taking Aleve for the stress fractures in my feet. Just last week, I realized that no one visiting my home had ever complained about these loud "critters". Paying close attention, I have now realized that I hear this constant chirping sound EVERYWHERE. I plan to talk to my MD when thyroid is checked later this month and probably to onc in March. Has anyone else had this with Arimidex -- with radiation above the collar bone -- with Hashimoto's thyrod disease? I do remember having a little TMJ after chemo and nerve pain radiating to my ear during rads.

If you had this, is there a cure? I have cut down on my Aleve, but noise is still loud.

Thanks lots for any info.

I can't say I've had this happen to me.  It is rather interesting, though.  Tinnitus is ringing in the ear, though, I think.  Chirping I'm not sure about.  It will be interesting to see what your docs say about it.  I'm on Arimidex, but don't have any side effects to speak of.

 

How are you otherwise?

Hi, Kathy. I thought it was "ringing" too, but after searching the internet, I understand that it can also be a buzz, hum or chirp. Other than this, I am doing very well on my Arimidex, and if Arimidex is the cause of this problem, I do not intend to stop it until I am told to do so. I'll live with the chirp.

To continue on a personal note, breast reconstruction begins for me next Friday with the insertion of a chest expander. It will be outpatient. Then about eight weeks later, after 6 weekly "fillings", I will get the permanent implant along with the lat muscle movement. Then after things "settle down" my PS will do a "match". He believes this is the process that will give me the best outcome. If I fail to "fill" because my chest tissue can not expand, then I'll get the expander removed, and he will do the full lat flap with implant. He believes that I will "fill".

I hope all is well with you and your family. Had a great Holiday here in Birmingham. I'll let you know how all this surgery goes in about ten days or so.

I didn't know you lived in Birmingham.  Alabama, right?  I lived there for almost a year long ago.

Hi, great to hear from you. I have ENT appointment on March10th. I am not expecting a cure -- from all I have read -- but at least I will know for sure.

Have begun breast recon with chest expander 1-23. had first fill Monday. Not too bad, but I have been lethargic for past 2 days, feel good now. great drug for muscle spasms is Valium. guess that is why my note is so poorly worded and typed. I'll let you know how this all turns out especially since I had radiation. I am having a Lat flap.

Hi all! I've had 35 radiation treatments. I have been having ringing in my ears and wondered if it was from the radiation. My breast and underarm are burnt and uncomfortable, I keep Eucerin lotion and  

Regenecare wound gel. It.s getting a little better. Hope your all well. Hugs, Dee

Dee, I used Glucan Pro and Gulcan 3000. It can be ordered on line. Was great to quickly relieve the "burnt and uncomfortable" feeling.
I like Eucerin for my winter dry skin and have never heard of Regenecare wound gel. This Glucan is typically used for burn patients in burn units.

Update on the ear chirping. It does seem to be tinnitus due to minimal hearing loss at the end of the very high pitch scale. I actually hear very well, especially this DARN chirping. The dr has scheduled an MRI, which I am sure will show nothing (no tumor, but I hope brains). I have hears this is standard procedure. Also, he seems concerned about a lifelong problem I have had with dizziness upon standing. He is doing a test about this and is looking for orthostatic hypotension. My normal sitting bp is 90-100 over 50-60, so I guess I see his concern.

Overall, I do not believe I can receive any help with either of these issues, I think tinnitus is an old age condition and the other is just something I have always dealt with.

Update on breast reconstruction. I am hoping that next Monday is my last inflation date. The last two Mondays have been painful  but tolerable. I expect the same pain next time, but I hope it is the last inflation before the implant and flap operation. With the inflations I have had only one episode of "blanching". I believe that means "chapped", and am using Eucerin as dr directed. Overall, I am good, but at 62 it takes a lotout of me.  I can not work full time, so I  am taking all this time off -- without pay of course!! I'll update you on flap and implant operation when finished.

I haven't checked in here in a while.  I hope everything goes well for you with the surgery.  I will try to check in here more often, but I am so busy with school and work I hardly have time to breath some day.  It's 7:30PM and I'm still at work!
