DH finally has a diagnosis.

We saw the oncologist yesterday who requested the CT guided biopsy.  It is adenocarcinoma, meaning the bone site is a metastasis from a glandular site.  Now they have to find the primary site to treat also, so CT scans with barium are set for next Tuesday.  Tomorrow we see the radiologist for marking and he will begin radiation to the rib and the sacrum right away.  The onc doubled his Morphine, he is in so much pain. 

I keep thinking of Cathi and how long she has endured bone mets pain.  I hope she is comfortable in hospice and feels our love and prayers surrounding her.

Oh geez MK, I am sorry, but I am glad they finally figured it out. I will keep you, your husband , and all of your family in my prayers.

MK, when does it end? You and your family have endured so much, this just really stinks. I am sorry you are facing cancer yet again. You're a corageous woman and I know you will be the rock once again. Feel our hugs and prayers...

Oh, MK, I'm so sorry to hear this! How did the tests come out on Tuesday??? Some people just seem to get more than they should have to handle, and you just seem to handle it so well.

My hubby is not doing so great at the moment, either. We have been dealing with lots of cellulitis and ulcers on his legs that have required ongoing treatment at the wound care center. We are going to see a vascular surgeon next Tuesday to see if he needs surgery, and they are talking like they are going to put him on oxygen 24/7 soon. But, knock on wood, both girls and the grandbaby are healthy and happy and doing well.

Let us know how the tests went, please.

Oh Bev, those ulcers and celluitis sound so painful! I bet they look awful, too. Do you have to help dress them, etc.? Yes, I think you have more than your share to deal with, too.

The tests on Tuesday showed a tumor in the lung, middle lobe right next to sternum which is where a lot of his pain has been. The sternum, sacrum, rib and spine all have bone mets. He can't get comfortable any place or in any position. They have doubled his Morphine yet again, now 60 mg q 8 h. Today we went to see PA and onc. PA will be in close touch for pain help. They also gave him Morphine drops with instant relief to put on his tongue or in a drink to work when tablets with time release seem to be too spread out. Next Wed he will have a head scan to check vessels for chemo. A port will be put in hopefully next week also. Chemo will begin shortly thereafter. They are giving him Avastin, Carboplatin, and Taxol as well as Zometa for bones.

Oh my gosh, MK...this is no comparison to what you are going through! My aunt had adenocarcinoma of the lung. I wish I could offer you good news about her outcome, but I can't. She passed on with mets to the brain. But that was years ago, and I know chemotherapy has evolved significantly since then. I hope they can find a way to control the pain, in the meantime. You take care, and you have my number if you need it. I'll be sending good thoughts your way, you know. Here's hoping he'll be cleared for chemo.

Thanks Becky and everyone for your support. Head scan this morning and chemo class this afternoon where they show us around, etc. Carolyn shoould be getting her weekly chemo while we are there. Of course I will keep you all posted. Hugs and love, MK

I really just can not believe all that you and your family have had to go through. I want you to know I am rooting for Farmer Chuck and really hope and pray he will be out there again soon doing his farmer Chuck routine. Thanks so much for letting me know I had missed this news. Please tell him that we are sending love and best wishes and will be hoping for better news. Love and Hugs. Joyce

Oh MK, I hope that you can feel the hug that I am sending you and your family. (((((((((((MK & FAMILY))))))))))). This is just way too much for one family to endure.
Might I add............that this is the reason I RELAYED this weekend. We are getting the money.......................now, where is that CURE????????? It makes me so mad that they aren't moving faster on finding one.

I will be keeping you and your family in prayer. I hope that Chucks pain can be managed real soon.....it is just so hard to "hang in there" when you are hurting.

MK:  I am so sorry to hear about Farmer Chuck. Wow, what a shock. I am praying that the drugs will work their magic and all of those darn mets will just disappear. I can only imagine how tired, both mentally and physically, you are right now but you know that we are all here for you. You have lots of cyber strength coming from this group.
