It is so nice to see old familiar names posting... I just so wish the circumstances were different. We would love to hear how you're doing, what you're doing, and have you visit under better circumstances...

Gosh, I come here and read the "news" and it feels like I've not been away. Of course, that's not true...so many of us are gone. It's hard to believe I've been posting on this board since 2001.

I still miss Susan tremendously; I think of her often. Cathi's struggle was so long and so painful to watch.

But in July of this year, I passed my 11th anniversary. To quote Martha "that's a good thing." Also in July I finished my 5 year course of Femara. Yippee, that was a cause to celebrate. The onc tells me he only needs to see me once a year now. Who knew in 1998 when I was first dx'd that there would be an 11th anniversary??

I know, I know, everyone's body is different, but I think the above news is encouraging for all of us. Be strong and think positive. The CURE is coming.

There is no doubt that painful as it sometimes has been to read, this Board has been a tremendous source of knowledge and support. Thank you, MK, Bev, and Lori for your good thoughts. It's funny that under our names there is a designation "veteran member," is that ever true.

It is good to see familiar names again. I think of my extended "family" often, though I don't get here too much. I am doing fine at 13+ years since diagnosis. Gave up on seeing onc several years ago as mammograms are always normal. Right now I am dealing with neuropathy in my feet and painful plantar faceitis. Had an MRI and EMG and will follow up with neurologist in a couple of weeks. They tested blood sugar and A1c was 5.8, so it is not diabetes. Neurologist is thinking pinched nerves, spinal stenosis or??? We shall see. Hopefully there will be something that can be done. We cruised Alaska last year, through the Panama Canal this past March and would like to do another one while we are able. Grandchildren are fine. Melanie is in kindergarten this year and Luke turned 3 in March. DD is working hard on toilet training. DH enjoying retirement. Mother is frustrated she cannot get around the country to see more interesting places. Guess that's about it.
Seems like most big families here, we see each other at weddings and funerals. Hugs, Lauri

Yes, I am guilty of not coming here in quite a long time, too.  My apologies!

 

I have entered my 2nd year of Rad Tech school already!  I can't believe how fast the time is going.  I graduate in June of 2010!  Still working part time, too, which makes it very tiring.  But, it's fun and my classmates are great!

 

My health is holding steady.  Had a bunch of scans just to check things and nothing was found.   yeah    I have one more year of Arimidex!  This month will be my 5 year 'anniversay' of my diagnosis.  Unbelievable!

 

I will try to visit here more often, but honestly, I'm really into Facebook these days!  LOL tongue

I am also guilty of not coming in too long a time.   I was so sad to see the post about Cathi.  She was such a fighter. 

I have reached 12 years, 2 months.  I am taking Evista daily because the onc doesn't want me to not take anything.  I guess I have to go back and see him to find out how long I need to take this.

I am back in school working for an algebra endorsement so I can teach algebra to 8th graders.  The gigantic test at the end has me extremely worried.  If I don't pass, I have to retake the courses.

I have 4 beautiful granddaughters.  My son has 3 and my daughter has 1 who turned 4 today.

I will try to come back on a regular basis.  The papers I need to grade will have to wait.

I haven't posted in a long time but lurk every once in a while. I have reahed my 4 year milestone. My mammo's have been clear, but there's always that wonder in my mind. I hope everyone is doing well.
