Prayers and peace coming to you from SW Ohio

The onc is looking for studies that Carolyn might be eligible for. She looks very tired and seems to be hurting more when she walks. Her bone mets are in the hips, too, just like her dad's. She drove here yesterday to tell Chris goodbye and see her dad. Meanwhile he continues to hallucinate and see things and people. Good anti-psychotic drugs work but take some time to kick in. He went to sleep about 10:30 last night and is still asleep after 9 this morning. I got a good night's sleep last night and Amy is here to help me so I expect a fairly good day. Thanks again for your love and support. Frank Sinatra's "That's Life" is running though my mind. MK

All that sounds wonderful, but you are right, a good night's sleep would be best. I slept pretty well last night but poor Amy did not. Her room is nearer his and altho he had same medication that settled him the night before, last night it had him wound up. I don't know what we are going to do. He gets up and falls and thinks he is fixing stuff all the time, like he really used to do. Poor Amy. She said the dogs were raising cane, too. I didn't hear a thing. Oh my. How long can this go on? At least most of the time he is nice and not mean or obnoxious. Thanks for the hugs and love, I need them. Some back to you all. MK

Mk:  I am so sorry to hear all of this news. My computer has been dead for the past several weeks and just yesterday broke down and bought a laptop and got a new internet provider.

I am sorry to hear about your dd's recurrance. Hopefully there will  be some new clinical trials that can help her. What meds is she on for her hip pain. I personally have had to go to a stronger pain med for the hip and leg pain. I held off as long as I could but thank goodness they are available.

Please get as much hospice help as you can. You need your rest. I know that you get frustrated w/ Chuck and at the same time love him to pieces. Give yourself little breaks when you can...a quiet bath, a cup of coffee outside and listen to the birds.

Luci, Hospice has been wonderful for helping in so many ways. The male nurse, Drew, is a little handicapped himself and he is so compassionate and caring about all of us. He suggested some different medications and they have worked to make Chuck sleep and help with his mind and seeing things. He has calmed down and has been almost normal at times, except for the pain and not being able to get around. Yesterday two aides came with Drew and right away they made some great helpful suggestions about a trapeze bar for over his bed and side rails for the commode to help him move better. All Hospice people sit and visit with me to hear all about Chuck from their last visit. His appetite has gone and now they are sending some meds to help perk it up, too. They are just wonderful.

Then I have Amy, the daughter of the friend who has been cleaning for me for several years now. She is great help and is here 24/7. I think she likes our country living. She does the runs to the store and other errands as well as helping me here. She spent one night all night with Chuck fighting fires aboard ship and she was "Mark". So you see she is good with him, too. Chris has come two different times, once for almost a week, then for almost two weeks. All the family and friends have been very supportive, so I am not having to work nor even handle too much stress anymore. Life is good. After all there are a lot of people much worse off than we are. Some people live their whole lives with terrible handicaps and illnesses. Some babies lose their mothers to the darn disease of breast cancer. As Chuck tells everyone, he has had a good life and he knows his time is coming and that's ok. He even jokes about a funeral.

Thanks for the nice comment, Bev. Last night the sleeping pill did not work so well, so this morning we are seeing people, blinds that are dripping of water. Chuck is living underground and I am on the second floor of a one floor home and just all sorts of things. He came out this morning for breakfast and I thought he had a good night's rest until he started telling me all these tales. Amy said he came into her room at 3 am wanting to know where I was and then went back to his room and yelled for the people to leave he wanted to go to sleep. I missed all that in the other end of the house. Some days are interesting to say the least. Have a great day. Hugs MK
