Hi Ladies

My Onc switched me from Femara to Aromisin. I am not familiar with it.

Is anyone else on it or know anything about it....The Dr gave me some info,

but I trust your opinions.

I went from Tamoxifen,Arimidex, Femara and now Aromasin. I guess I should

be thankful they have these drugs.

I will have repeat scans etc in Dec or Jan. I am still on Oxycontin for pain

every 12 hrs...and oxycodone in between as needed...

No info, but glad to see ya! How is the arm? Is the infection healing?

I am doing alot better...The infection is gone. I finished the antibiotic yesterday. I was on them for
3 weeks. The pain is almost gone in my arm. I am still so tired. I wish I would get some of my
energy back. My back and Femur are hurting, but I guess that I will have to deal with that.

It is so wonderful knowing that you all are right here with me duuring this latest stuff.

I love you all so much...

Sweet Cathi, I only knew that Aromasin was involved in controlling estrogen in some way. I looked it up on the net, and this is one of the sites that was pretty informative.

Hope that will help you a little. Is there any chance of more rads to help in the pain? This all just sucks. You're a real trooper though, God bless. You're always in my thoughts and prayers. I hate to bother you with calls. I remember all too well that my phone used to ring constantly with loving questions about how I was and though I appreciated them greatly, it was always when I had stopped thinking about this dang disease for just a bit, and I would crash again. (sigh)

Hi Cathi,

I've been on Aromasin for almost 2 years now with very few side effects, thankfully.  My understanding is that it is a "steroidal" aromatase inhibitor and that it blocks the turning of testosterone and body fat into the bad type of estrogen.....thus reducing estrogen in our bodies.  It does so in a more permanent way than femara,  and other aromatase inhibitors.  I hope so much that you have good success with it.  I have read very good things about this drug and my Onc likes all the studies.

Haven't talked to you in a couple weeks.  Glad to see you post and that the infection is gone and the pain the arm is nearly gone.  Hope the new drugs work for you with little or no side effects.

Cathi, I am on Aromasin. I have only been on it for about 3-4 months. I don't have any side effects really. I have hot flashes, but they are not bad at all. Plus, I am going through chemopause too. But I have heard great things about it. So I am praying it keeps me safe for a while.
