Hi, i'm new to this but I thought I would give it a try. Maybe someone can help me. I am 28 yrs. old and I have been having pain and a green/black discharge for about a year now. I finally went to the doc. in March he was concerned so he ordered an ultrasound to be done asap. I went they said I had fibrocystic changes and two complex cysts in my right breast they never checked the left one.  They said for me to go back in 6 months for another u/s. My doc wasn't happy with this he said I should  be checked right away. He sent me to a surgeon. I assumed a biopsy or something would be done. Nothing was the Doc. felt around and said there is nothing wrong with you they say I am too young to worry about anything. I have two friends with breast cancer and they tell me that what I explain doesn't sound normal. My family feels I should get a couple more opinons. What do you think anything will help. I'm at a loss.

Definitely, get a another opinion. It probably is nothing too serious, odds are in your favor....but when it comes to you and your health, you've got to be in control. Consider seeing a breast specialist at a breast care center.

You are not too young. Yes, you are young, and that is in your favor. My daughter is 28, and her best friend from high school was just diagnosed with breast cancer. You do need an answer as to why you are having this discharge. I think you should see another surgeon. I don't know where you live, but most larger cities have a breast center. That would probably be the best place for you to go.

Hi ! I have to agree w/ what the other gals told you. You definitely need to find either an oncologist or surgeon that will listen to you and take action to find out what is causing your problems. You mentioned that you have 2 friends that have bc. Do they live in your area? If so, ask them who their onoclogist or surgeon is and if they are totally satisified w/ their care. If they say yes, then make an appt w/ one of their drs. Congrats to you physician for making sure that you are getting the problem checked. Too many would have accepted the first physician's findings and let it go. Sounds as though you have a good one! Remember to follow your gut instincts.

Thank you all for your advice. I am going to talk to one of my friends tonight and get her docs. info if not there is a breast cancer center about an hour away i'd say it's worth the trip.

Good.  You absolutely need to have this checked by another physician.  You have to be your own advocate when it comes to your own health and the health of your family.  We will all be hoping to hear from you when you come back to tell us it is nothing!  Wishing you the best.
