Chris's tests came back totally negative for BRCA.  This does not mean she will not have breast cancer, but it does mean that she is not a carrier and passing those genes along to her son.  Her genetisist strongly suggests that Carolyn and I both be tested.  Carolyn is thinking about it.  I will wait and perhaps we can go together to have it done.  Medicare supposedly pays for the test and she will be under Medicare on Feb 1st!

I was wrong when I said she was to have her MRI and bone scan yesterday.  One of the tests is today and the other on Friday.  Will let you know about them, too. 

Carpet guy coming to measure for new carpet to go with new furniture accents in living room.  What fun!

MK that IS good news. Praying for more good news that her MRI & bone scan are also negative.

That is excellent news. I know when I was tested, one of my girls was disappointed that I was negative. Had I been positive, then she would have gladly had an elective double mastectomy and been done with the whole thing. The other was happy that she needn't make that decision. My girls are night and day, that is for sure! I'm still not convinced that this relieves them of genetic predisposition. Genetics has come a long way, but IMHO, still in infancy compared to so much science.

Envy you new carpet. All I'm getting is an exterminator! LOL

Carolyn has a fracture in her hip. They aare sending her to an orthopedic surgeon saying they don't know if he can help or not, but it is at least worth a try. She is also getting radiation for the pain. She was marked on Friday and will begin tomorrow for ten days. She has had her last treatment of chemo of this variety, so far have not heard what they will try next. She has had so many but they all are pretty tolerable to her and have helped greatly in her fight to live. She gets around with a cane now and that is a big consession on her part.

The carpet guy is also a builder and has crews to do painting so his crew is going to paint and fix up the rough spots around the area to be painted, the living room and hallway. We found some paintings to match the new decor, too. I'll take pictures when we are done and put them on facebook.

Mk...I fractured my hip a couple of yrs ago. Only thing that I had done was pull some weeds. I can remember  how painful it was. I hope that the rad hs helped your dd.\

Carolyn was here Sunday and seemed to be doing fine, no cane even. They reduced the radiation treatment to five stronger doses and gave her some stronger pain meds. The Radiologist has sent her records to the Orthopedic surgeon but she has not heard from them about an appointment yet. My son is here with his son and we have been cleaning out useless stuff and getting tools together so everyone can get what they want. What a job. I am really tired and I have done very little. I will probably rest for the next few days after they go home tomorrow. LOL.

Hi MK,

I think of you often and will try to post so that maybe you would know that. Some good news is always welcome but I would like for you to have lots more.

I've just been really busy going back and forth for family and business between here, Chicago, and NW Indiana. My sister-in-law just passed away last week. She was 51 and had a bad form of dystrophy since childhood. My brother will be very alone.

MK, glad to hear that your dd is doing better. Great news that she doesn't have to use the cane anymore. Hope the news from the ortho surgeon is good when she hears from him.

It is tough having to go thru "senseless" things. My adopted brother, who is 3 mos younger than myself, has had to be placed in a nursing home this past week. He has alcohol related deminisia (sp?). It has been very difficult. We cleaned up, somewhat..2 days..his little 3 room apt. Got  28 bags of trash out and just made a small dent.

Hang in there. Remember that we all love you.
