had small lump 1n 1992, was told just a cyst, now larger

I went for mamo, and ultrasound, was told didn't see anything, but husband sister and daughter felt it, so it's not my imagination, the tech told me it probably is a tissue fold? never heard that - does this sound right? In 1992 the real small lump was found, and was tols stop caffine and take oil of primrose- i aways check it stayed the same untill june of this year. how can they not see it?

Can they feel it? Drs order sonograms when they can feel something and it is not seen in a regular mammogram. Even Xray tech will call the dr and suggest a sonogram. How big is the lump by your judgement? Insist on a sonogram or other test to be sure. See another dr if you are not satisfied.

As many as 30 percent of all breast cancers are missed on a mammogram. A cyst should show up on an ultrasound because a cyst is fluid-filled. I agree with MK... you need to check this out further.

Hi Rusty....
I agree with the others. Best to get it checked...but odds are in your favor. Something like 80-90% of lumps are benign, so no reason to think yours would not be either. But for peace of mind, please do follow up and be sure you have a solid answer, not just what someone thinks.
