Can I trust my baseline mammogram

As most of you have read from my first post "new here" I am waiting on my current mammogram. I called today and found out that my baseline mammogram was shipped out Friday to the new facility I am using for mammography. But they didn't tell me how it was shipped. So I began digging. Hoping to find a website that would tell me how they usually ship xrays across the United States.

I found a letter on the net to the old facility, that had my baseline mammogram, from the FDA. The letter was a non compliance letter to FDA rules and regulations on mammography. The letter was written about 6 months to a year after my baseline mammogram.

Can I trust my baseline mammo now or is that something that I have now lost 

I wish I understood government double talk better.

I think a lot has to do with the density of the breasts and the skill of the technician, the skill of the radiologist, etc....in my case, I had a 2.5 cm tumor that was palpable but not visible on the mammogram, since I was not quite 31. Now at 36 I am hoping that my mammos are more reliable, as my breast tissue changes. Who ever thought I'd be praying to lose density? The ultrasound also showed my tumor clearly.
I asked my surgeon about the reliability of mammos for me, and he said just because one cancer did not show up, does not mean any future problems would not be visible either...each stands on its own.

I think whatever is the first mammo that they can get a read on would be your baseline.

Very interesting, things that can be found on the internet. While this sounds worrisome, I think I would try contacting the facility where the baseline was done to see if your mammograms could have been done during the time frame of the problem and what the problem actually was. I thought I read something about reports missing. It really was hard to understand what was actually wrong. But then I read it over quickly. Possibly before trying to find out anything on your own, print out the letter and send it to the new facility and let them handle it. Let us know what you find out. Hope nothing is amiss. MK

I had saved the letter to my computer and was going to take it to the new location. I have to take my mother there on Thursday for a preop test. So was going to drop it off and let the radiologist there figure out what the problem was and if there is concern on my baseline mammogram.

My hobby of genealogy has taught me well how to search the net and I find all kinds of things out there. Some of them are quite scarey.
