Well, I agree with the other responses about getting a new doctor. No one deserves to be treated like you were treated. I had what the call "fibrocystic breast disease" when I was young and cute and had two breasts (LOL). My breasts were lumpy and bumpy and sometimes, those lumps and bumps are extremely painful, other times they are not. I was given all kinds of advice, such as take A, avoid caffeine, go on birth control... none of those things worked for me, personally. Apparently, this does work for some women, according to doctors; however. I've never met any of those women! And for reference, fibrocystic breast disease is not consider a precursor to breast cancer, so that is good to know. Another good thing to know is that breast cancer is slow growing, compared to many other cancers. Most breast cancers are 8-10 years old before they can be detected on a mammogram, and of course, they can typically be detected by mammogram before they are palpable. So suggesting you try Vitamin A for a month is not as if the gyn is condemning you to a death sentence if you were to be diagnosed with breast cancer. If she is considering this could be a breast cancer, suggesting that you avoid becoming pregnant before you know what this is could even be plausible. Breast cancers are often hormone driven, and you probably know that pregnancy is a hormonal roller coaster for a woman. Medically, I don't think she is on totally shaky ground with anything.
However, to not explain her reasoning to you or give you any information and to treat you as if you are not worth her time and effort are just plain inexcusable. Ask a friend, a co-worker, someone at church or at the gym for a good gyn and get a second opinion. Most insurances will cover.
Let us know how it goes, okay?
Hugs...
