It was nine years ago today that I heard those fateful words, "It's cancer." It has been a rocky road but mostly a good one thanks to the good friends I have made here. We have been through so much since I joined the iVillage board in 2000. How I wish everyone was still with us. But, that was not to be. So, as I celebrate my survival today, I remember those dear breast friends who are with us in spirit. Hugs and love to all, Lauri

Celebrating with you, Lauri! Wow, 9 years, way to go!!! It is so great to have long-timers here to our diverse group...Can't wait to hit #10 with you!

Lauri, I am in Louisville celebrating with you. I was going to start my diet today,but hey...I can wait one more day! Congrats on 9 years!! That's terrific and encouraging. Sending hugs from LV

Congratulations Lauri!!!  How inspiring it is to us newbies to have you and others celebrating so many years of survival!!!!  I"m grateful to have this place to keep me going through this!!!

You are just about six months ahead of me. What a great milestone! And what would we do without each other? I wish we were all together again, those that are still with us and those who have passed on, but it is not to be. I keep all the ladies I have met in my prayers. Hugs on your anniversary. MK

lauri,congratulations can you fill us new ones in on the type of cancer you had so are road wont look so long ahead of us.Its so encouraging to hear this from you.a lot of things go through our minds neg.and pos. but when we hear great news like this it helps us to focus better and stay possitive.Thank you so much for sharing this good news with us,you made my day! Lauri, Do you hear that sound? That is me dragging my drum out of the closet. Time to celebrate that happy news with the famous drum. I really love this excuse to jump around and make a bigger fool out of myself than usual. I think that anniversary is really great. Love and Hugs Joyce

We came to Ivillage around the same time in 2000.

PS. I can hardly keep up with all those that have gotten their "angel wings". So many gone so young and left so many children especially the really young ones.

Thank you all for the good wishes and joining me in this special day. You know, shortly after I was diagnosed I sent in a 10 year membership for AARP. Talk about feeling confident! I think when my renewal comes next year I'll sign up for another 10 years. Happy hugs, Lauri

Big, BIG congrats. I remember you coming on the old iv board. It seems like a life time ago. You're a wonderful, caring person. A toast to 99 more! I'm sneaking up on 8 years myself soon, and for you "newbies" I had a 2.5 cm lump, 2 pos. nodes, mastectomy, chemo (CMF) and radiation, tamox for five years and now on Femara.

Love you, lady and hope you and your mom have big travel plans this spring. Come on down to NC and visit me sometimes.
