Cathi is in the hospital....

Cathi was admitted to the hospital early this morning.  Her sister, Marilyn, called me this evening.  I had called Cathi yesterday and was unable to get in touch with her.

Cathi is not tolerating the new chemo, Taxotere/Zeloda, well at all.  She is completely dehydrated from vomiting and diarrhea.  She has also developed mouth and nose sores and cannot eat any solid foods just yet. She is receiving IV fluids.  Tomorrow the onc. will see her in the morning and discuss in what direction things are going to go given these new circumstances. 

Our friend is very ill, everyone.  We need to pray hard so that she has some peace in body and spirit.  I don't think I've ever heard such sadness in her voice as I did this evening.

Adding my thoughts for a good alternative to this chemo regimen, and as you say, Luci, peace in body and spirit. Cathi is such a fighter.

Thank you so much Luci, She told me if it did not stop she was going to be admitted. When I was not able to get an answer, I assumed she had gone in. I told her I thought it was a good idea. Oh dear, I knew Cathi was not feeling well at all and told her to go have a rest, but had no idea dehydration was the problem. I was more concerned with her sugar. I will keep her in my prayers and pray that she gets better really soon. This is not good. She really does need our love and prayers big time. Hugs MK

Dear Luci, Please tell Cathi that I am sending lots of good wishes her way.  I hate hearing that she is so sick right now.  When is it ever going to stop?  Just not fair.  Hugs to you too Luci for keeping us posted.  L&H, Christi

There are things that have happened in my life that have hurt deep in my heart. Cathi's reaction to the new meds has reached that spot. I will be sending mega-prayers to my dearest sister. If we could only have a miracle that the dr can find something that will work without being so hard on her body.

I also know that there is no one who knows Cathi who does not love her. I think we need a super prayer day. How about Wed, tomorrow, at 5pm CST?

This news just breaks my heart. I sure hope that the doctors can find something that will agree with her and find it quick, she certainly does not deserve to have these problems to deal with.

Wish I could take all of her pain away from her. She is one special sweet lady and is loved by all that comes in contact with her.

Luci, hugs to both of you. This news is so hard to hear.

Oh, CR@P, SH#T, and all of the other words I can't type for fear of getting banned from the Internet. This s*cks big time. Cathi is the LAST person who should be going through this. She has helped so many people on this board and previous boards.

Luci, please tell Cathi we all love her, but don't want to flood her with phone calls. I think she knows anyway. Strong but gentle pink hugs for you, for Cathi, and for all of us.

How about a card shower, everybody????? Maybe we can all send the FUNNIEST cards we can find, for any occasion, just as long as they are funny....what do you think? Cathi would probably appreciate the weird humor in getting a Halloween card right now!

Great idea Peg. I'll hunt for a funny card tomorrow, although right now I don't feel too funny, but I can see her opening a card like that and laughing.
What about the chemo that is new and Tavish told us about it. It's Abraxane. I just looked it up. It's supposed to be less toxic.
