If a mammogram shows a nodule, and compression views show a nodule, then I would feel pretty sure that there is a nodule. Usually compression views are done to verify an abnormal finding on a mammogram. Ultrasound has definite limitations. It doesn't have good spatial resolution, so better detail is found in a mammogram. An ultrasound is only as effective as the technologist is skilled. It may not pick up a deeply seated mass. Ultrasound typically doesn't pick up microcalcifications. And imaging depends on the contrast between the mass and the surrounding breast tissue.
Hope this helps. Are they recommending a biopsy at this point?
