(No Subject)

Is anyone nervous out there about an upcoming procedure?  I have to have a biopsy done in 9 days.  Is this usual for them to make someone wait.  The waiting is awful.  I guess I will find out something 3 days afterwards, but even the 9 days leading up is somewhat stressful.  I am nervous.  Just when I think I'm doing okay my mind keeps wondering and I picture my kids (only 9 and 11) without their mother....I picture my funeral, I picture so many horrible things for them too go through without me.  Help!  Why do hopsitals make people wait for (it was 11 days) for the procedure? 

You are so very kind to respond to my post.  Wow!  You have been through a lot.  I can't believe you waited 3 weeks to get your biopsy....what were the results?  Why did you have to have surgery?....to get rid of a lump?  I am so glad you are doing well......I wish you the best for your next mammo.  It is such a worry, I know.  I am trying not to make myself go crazy, but inside I am while raising a 11 yr son and 9 yr daughter meanwhile not letting them know about my anxiety.  I am just hoping that if they find something that it is in the very beginning stages and can be treated.  I am not ready to leave my kids motherless and that makes me scared.  I have 7 more days until my biopsy and it's just not fun waiting.  Does anyone know anything to do in the meantime.  I am trying to educate myself by surfing the web and empowering myself!  God bless you for responding.  Thank you.  Do let know what your next mammo results are?  80% are benigh right?  We have to keep thinking that for all women and hoping modern technology will save us from our fears and be good for all of us.  Take care.

You are absolutely right....it IS worrying about the kids.  You would think with computers and all technology they could have results immediately these days...or at least within 24 hours or something like that.  Hmmmm....something for someone to invent and be rich!  Just like DNA was not invented and now it's revolutionary, we need equipment that gives results faster for everyone's tests...whatever they maybe.  Thank you for responding.  I am looking forward to having my procedure......that is what I am telling myself.....it's the 3 days later supposedly until the results come in that I am worried about!  God bless you all......then you see someone like Whitney Houston with an 18 yr daughter who loves and needs her mother, take her life with drugs.....sad, very sad!  But let's ALL be hopeful that the statistics are on our side and 80% benigh, right?  Take care.

Hi Englishtea.

I'm visiting here for the first time. I'm usually on over at fibromyalgia. I go Thursday after a 2 week wait for a stereotactic biopsy and ultrasound guided biopsy, 3 spots on 1 breast. I waited 3 weeks for the call back mammogram and ultrasound. I'm going a little nuts just waiting. My doctor sent me the report and it said something was "suggestive of DCIS". I had never heard of this but have been spending my days researching BC and I know now what it is.

I am nervous about Thursday for many reasons, but it is very hard for we fibromites to be still for too long. Our muscles tighten up. The nurse told me to plan for for at least 3 hours. Stress really affects how we feel and believe me, I'm stressed! And of course, no NSAIDS for a week before the procedure. This has my arthritis flaring too.

I've tried to keep busy, even been baking homemade bread and trying new recipes. I've tried to be very positive too. I know a lot of these things are benign. I won't know the results until at least next Monday afternoon.

God bless you Barkyboys!!!!!!!!!!!!  My heart goes out to you as I know my imagination ran wild for the last several weeks as well about funerals and motherless kids!  I am relieved to tell you that I got a benign result yesterday from my doctor's nurse as they knew I was worried like every women does when going through this....however, I am yet to talk to the doctor himself and will today...I have so many questions.  Even though I dodged a bullet, I know that I have many more years to worry ahead of me and for my 9 yr daughter today esp knowing breast cancer statistics.  I don't have any family (only a sister who is not close with me and a mom that is mentally disabled due to a car accident) so that it made it hard also!  I hope they find a cure for breast cancer for all us women! 

To the other lady who is going to have a stereotactic biopsy....just know that you are not alone....so many women will have to go through that.  It was not bad.  The only bad thing for me (and I got it done in 2 spots) is the laying on the table without moving for 1 1/2 hours or so while they poked and did what they needed to do.  It's totally bearable though...the poking was NOT the bad part...that was waiting for the results.....which I was for sure had cancer.  Take care of yourself......mentally prepare.....and imagine yourself somewhere wonderful!  It will be over before you know it and it is  LIFE SAVING PROCEDURE AS IF THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH THEY KNOW HOW TO TREAT IT AND THERE ARE MANY THINGS THEY CAN DO TODAY FOR CANCER.....look at the barkyboys who has been battling cancer, but has lived for many years to talk about it......those stories are very, very, very encouraing and I love to hear them!  Thank you.
