There are two types of mammogram appts. First, there is your screening mammogram. The tech looks at your films to make sure they turned out. The radiologist looks at the films later. If there is something they have questions about, they do a callback. Then there is the diagnostic mammogram. The radiologist will typically read the films while you wait, and if there is an issue, they take more pics or do an ultrasound right then, and some places will even do a biopsy that same day.
