When waiting for your biopsy results did anyone...(Updated)

...give in to their nerves and call the doctor for the results?  I'm trying not to get worried and I'm trying to keep my mind off of things, but nothing is working.  Granted, I had the biopsy on Fri. morning and it's possible my doctor doesn't have the results yet, (the radiologist said it would take a couple of days) but for me I've been "waiting" for 3 days now.  I don't want to bother my doctor, and yet I'm not doing so well w/the sitting by the phone routine (and I can't leave because I worry I'll miss her call).   sad

Laura, I called. But keep in mind, the weekend does not count for them. The sample has to be sent out, and the path report dictated, signed and sent to your doc, then read by the doc before he calls you.

I had to wait nearly 2 weeks for my lymph node results. WHen i got to the day that they said it might be in, and still no results, I was a nervous wreck. the next day I called, and the nurse did read me preliminary results. I was surprised she did so, but thrilled.

Try to assume that you will not get results tomorrow either, so you can try to relax. And on Wed, maybe call by the afternoon if still no word. Unfortunately, these processes take time, and the waiting is the hardest part.

While waiting for my biopsy results,they told me 10 days,the hospital called and starting telling me about my up coming surgery,this was after 3 days of waiting.It was 7:00am.and I was still sleeping,I grabbed the phone and this was the message I got.I stood there shocked by it all and trying to write down what they were telling me,while crying to my husband "I do have cancer".What a way to receive this bad news! I know the waiting is very hard to handle.

I say absolutely call. Why not? The worst they can do is tell you they are not ready yet. They did a frozen section with my biopsy and told me I had cancer as soon as I woke up. I guess it's better than waiting. Someone probably already knows the results and you should call if that's what you want to do.

Sure hope it's nothing.

I gave in and called. The nurse was quite surprised to hear it was solid and not a cyst. She said she would call the path lab and let me know. Well, 2 1/2 hrs. went by, it was after 5 p.m., and I thought 1.) the results weren't ready yet and I'd have to wait another day, or 2.) it was bad news and the doctor would have to tell me. So when I got a call from my doctor I prepared myself for the worst...however it was benign! Just a fibroadenoma. The radiologist felt he got a very good sample representation, too. My doc said she'd re-u/s me in 4 mos. to see if it has changed at all. I am soooo relieved!!

I want to thank you all again for your support and patience! I will continue to check in every now and then to see how you are all doing. My thoughts and prayers are w/you guys. ((Big Hugs))

OH what a relief. I know how you feel and am celebrating with you!!! Happy Dancing all around. Just please keep up with annual check ups and take care of yourself. As I have said so many times I had two benign lumps over twenty years before being diagnosed with breast cancer. By the time the diagnosis came I was so thankful for the 20 years it didn't upset me at all. Sure, come see us anytime, you can post that your lump was benign to show others it does happen often. 80% of the time so they say. Hugs of happiness, MK
