Well, that was close! I didn't have the clearance from my onc, and I thought I did. I didn't find this out, of course, until about 4:40 pm today. I had to boogey to get the bloodwork results to him, calling two places, then the office manager stayed late to get him to look at it. He called me at about ten to six, finally, after looking at it and was very leary of clearing me. "I don't regularly do this." I had told him I needed his clearance when I saw him last week, but he didn't seem to absorb that. He faxed me a letter to the surgeon, outlining the medical issues I have by sticking to the facts. He didn't outright give his clearance, because he wants a blood gas taken tomorrow morning before surgery and didn't see the results of the ekg and chest xray. He left it up to the surgeon, basically. We talked about my lungs, and I said I'm not coughing now, which I'm not. We also discussed the throat airway, which is diminished from the larynx issue. I have clearance to be intibated from my ENT doc, and he wrote that on the note, which is good because I can't find the clearance letter from the ENT doc. I'm pretty sure they have that on file for me, though. I think the note's good to go. I just hope they'll do a blood gass tomorrow.
What a panic, though, I probabky wouldn't have been able to have the surgery done without making those phone calls today.
Let's pray it all works out. I'll get online on Thursday or Friday when I get home.
