Microcalcifications

Good morning Ladies,

Ok here I am...I too was called back to have additional images due to microcalcifications. Radiologist brought me in a room, sat me down and scheduled an appointment with a surgeon immediately. I was told one area. Met with the surgeon and scheduled a sterio biopsy, only to find out there are now 3 area's. Does anyone know if by having 3 area increase my chance of breast cancer? The biopsy was Friday,   one minute I'm fine, next I am crying. Please help calm my nerves. I will not get the results till Tuesday!!!!!

My saying in life is "Keep Smiling" however I'm finding it hard to do right now.

Cancer in 3 areas. Unfortunately my surgeon cannot
Save the breast due to the amount of area and the fact
That I am an A cup size. I have opted for a double
Mastectomy, scheduled for August 20th. God willing everything will be
Fine. I am very happy with my surgeons. I will keep you posted.

Feel like I'm being jerked around. Had first mammo four o'clock. Got a call eight am the next day that they found microcalcifications, will need biopsy. Had my "consultation" before biopsy which was almost word for word what I was told after second mammo. Called for my schedule of biopsy but "she's on vacation this week but I'll be sure to have her call you just as soon as she can". Was / IS very scared because it all happened so fast, I thought I had reason to be afraid but now everyone seems to be dragging their feet. Maybe I shouldn't be so worried??
Any thoughts?

The report from the second mammo said "moderate suspicion of malignancy". That's scary but I'm hoping that because it is a very large dedicated facility just for breast cancer, that this is just a fluke and someone will get their head out of the sand!!

Like most of you, I got a call back from my annual mammo... Long story short, after further tests and a stereo biopsy.. I have DCIS on my right breast. Grade 2 noninvasive early stage. I need a lumpectomy and am scheduled with a highly recommended surgeon who unfortunately was going on a 2 week vacation when I made the appt....the wait is killing me...I know I'll be in good hands . My oncologist is renown and her husband is the head of pathology and read my results. I'm having psychosomatic tendencies and just felt a lump that wasn't there before ( could be the biopsy site healing?)
Am worried about possible radiation and hormone therapy with all its scary side effects... They tell me they won't know the additional treatments until after they go in there. I was assured that this extended wait ( its been over 2 weeks since the biopsy plus another week till the appt then who knows how much longer for the actual surgery) ...will not affect the movement or growth of the DCIS

Hi evryone... I've just become a member of this forum having been recently called back for a diagnostic mammo and sonogram of my right breast where my routine screening mammo some three weeks ago revealed two suspicious lesions. I'm 51 and perimenopausal and I don't have a family history of breast cancer. I just had my diagnostic mammo yesterday and ultrasound and since they couldn't determine still the nature of the lesions, I underwent fine needle biopsy yesterday plus clips. The "clips" I was told will serve as markers to guide the surgeon IN CASE I would need surgery later ( I suppose lumpectomy or removal of these lumps) should they turn out to be cancerous. I will get the results Thursday or Friday next week. Like everyone else here, I'm so anxious for a cancer diagnosis and this will surely be the longest 7 days of my life... I've read most of the posts here and am happy for those who got benign results. I could imagine the horror of waiting and the joy of receiving that one big benign news from the doctor. For now, I'll draw strength and comfort from the fellowship of women in here... Take care everyone!
