Hi, Everyone, I haven't been around in a while either. Mostly I've been feeling pretty awful. I've had a terrible summer cold which won't quit. Havoc going on inside the right side of my head because of it. I've been sneezing and coughing for about
6 weeks, but who knew, I thought it was just a cold.
Last week I noticed a swollen lymph node under my right jaw. It's pretty prominent and don't know why I missed it before. Well for 2 days I was immobile thinking all the worst things possible. On Saturday I sneezed and didn't give it much thought, mostly because it's been going on all summer. Right after the sneezing I got this sharp pain at the outside corner of my right eye (almost like when an eyelash gets stuck right there in the corner and begins to irritate that spot) Later that morning in the shower I checked that pesky lymph node again, of course, it was still there.
Afterwards I was looking in the mirror and my right eye had turned red, red, red from the center all the way out to the corner where I'd had that pain. Apparently, I've ruptured a couple of blood vessels in that eye because of all of the sneezing and coughing. The opthamologist says I don't "just" have a cold" I've got this big infection in all of the sinuses on the right side of my head. They're swollen and are putting too much pressure on the eye itself. So I'm on a liquid antibiotic and need to see the opthomologist again this Friday morning. He says the infection is so extensive that it's really hard to see anything behind the eye. He also wants me to see an ear, nose and throat dr. In the meantime the lymph node is still there as big as ever. But I've only been taking the meds since Monday. Hopefully, it's swollen because of the infection not because of ANYTHING ELSE.
I'm still sneezing and coughing but since the antibiotic I think maybe neither is as intense as it was previously. As Gilda Radner used to say "it's always something." L&H's, Luci
