Hi everyone....

Sorry I have been so quiet these past few months...I have really been laying low

this summer. I have a hard time dealing with the heat..and boy has it been hot here

in Cleveland...and the humidity ..YUCK.

Well, I stopped my chemo in mid june per my Oncs advice. I was spending to much

time in the hospital with side effects. So I have been taking a rest which has been

wonderful. I have been seeing  my onc ever 3 weeks and will see her again on 9/8

and she will order all new tests and scans and we will re-evaluate on what to do.

I know she is thinking of trying a different chemo..but I will think long and hard about

that. My pain level is bad so they increased the oxycontin again. I take oxcodone

in between but I dont do that often because it makes me feel really goofy.

I am still working full time. I do think about going on disability but havent done

anything about it. Since I am stage 4 it isnt very difficult from what I understand.

Oh well, I will keep that in mind for later on.

There are so many new names here...I am sorry I didnt welecome you earlier.

I am  glad you found our board, but sorry you have to be here. This is a

great place with so many caring woman.

Also, my ,laptop died and I have to get a new one....so I can only keep

in touch through work right now.

Cathi, We have all talked about disability at one time or another. You are totally disabled and have no business working. See, the body can't keep running full speed ahead in a battle for your life and endure the stress of your job.

I am praying that the scans have improved or, at least, stayed the same. You need to discuss a new chemo with the onc. You just don't know that the new protocol might not help so many others like you. However, the body heals when it is at rest. That's a four-letter word you need to remember. Webster defines it as: "peace, ease, and refreshment as produced by sleep" and "a period or occasion of inactivity as during work or on a journey" and "relief from anything distressing, annoying, tiring, etc."

Please put yourself as your main priority. I was so distressed when I found that I would not be able to work again because that had been my two-year goal. It didn't take long for me to realize that it was a pretty stupid goal. It has been over 9 1/2 years since I've worked and I don't miss it at all.

Put in for disability and work on your recovery. We love you so much and are waiting for you to tell us if you need anything.

We need to get with Luci about the quilt blocks.

Yes, you sure have been missed.  I think of you so often and wonder how you are doing.  Gosh, I am not very good at keeping in touch, am I?   

So glad that you have had some time away from the chemo.  I will pray that your doctor has the right answer for you to get to feeling better real soon. 

As for the disability, YOU will know when it is the right time for you to do it..........just listen to your body sweetie, it will tell you.  Although, wouldn't it be nice to know that you would not have to drag yourself out of bed in the morning????? AHHHHHHH!!  Sounds good to me! (-;

It's so good to hear from you, Cathi. I was thinking about you the other day and wondering where you've been hiding. I'm glad you've been "laying low." Sounds good to me. Please consider going on disability right away. You need to do whatever you can to help yourself. And working isn't the answer. You're in my prayers.
