Hi i am new to this forum but would like some advice or suggestions I am 47 my mother passed away at 54 with breast cancer in 96 I went to my doc just for a check up she sent me for a mammogram and apparently I have a 6mm lump in my right breast, They want to schedule me for a sonogram asap since i have history I am having a really tough time with this because of my history....I am scared that with the lump being 6mm it is large and may be found late any suggestions or comments I will appreciate I am scared to death here....ugh

I'll worry with you. I went through this in May and have 7 radiation TXs to go. 6mm isn't very large and try not to panic yet. I went to the Wende Logan Breast Clinic and had a biopsy that same day I had a repeat mamma and u/s. They tell you what they see on the spot and biopsy results in 24 hrs, or on Monday since I was there on a Friday afternoon. It was only 25 days from my abnormal mammogram till I had a partial mastectomy. I feel like I still have PTSD. So many of us, far to many of us, know how you feel. Keep us posted, hugs and prayers,

Thank you Sue for your kind words and encouragement they are greatly appreciated... I know there are way too many of us going through this and it is very scary, I have many friends and family saying prayers I am a firm believer that prayer works the more the better God is listening he knows....sending hugs and prayers for you as well....Belinda

I had a lump found when I just turned 40. Went through the ultrasound and ended up doing the biopsy and it isn't cancer. Just a lump we have to always watch in case it gets bigger and needs to be removed. It's a fibrous adenoma. Not everything felt or found on a Mammogram is cancer. My Maternal Grandmother had BC so I understand your worry. Good luck!

My tumour (and my Hubby and I actually named it Lance)....was found in November of 2013. I finished radiation on 4/1/14.

The best thing you can do is be pro-active and aggressively take care of your health.

Remember, postponing these exams does not reduce your risk....

Thank you all for you comments I had a diagnostic mammogram and a sonogram yesterday 08/27/14 the radiologist seems to think that it is just a cluster of cysts however he said he would do a biopsy if it would make me feel better instead of just coming back in 6 months for a follow up mammogram....I chose the biopsy I told him unless he could tell me with 100% for sure I would feel better if he would just do the biopsy to be sure...he said no problem so now I am waiting for my doctors office to get the cert...will know more after the biopsy...thank you all again I will continue to keep positive thoughts for all of us and prayers...good luck

Thank you all for your support. The biopsy came back as just cysts I follow up in a year....continued prayers for you all....

I just got back from my follow up mammogram and ultra sound. I'm 63 years old and have had annual mammograms. This is my first time being called back. The radiologist said it was a cyst and to do a follow up in six months. I asked if I needed to have it aspirated and she told me it was my decision but she would send the report to my doctor with the results plus recommending a six month recheck. She did hand me a pamphlet about the procedure for aspiration. I'm a total worryier so wonder if I should have it aspirated for piece of mind. I have an appointment with my gynecologist on 29 October so will ask her opinion.

Had my first mammogram in 9 years today. Have had no problems, doctor just said I needed one. When finished the technician said I would receive results in a letter. Being the worry wart that I am I asked if I would be notified earlier if they found anything or had a question. She said no and went on to say she didn't see anything but she was not the one that read it. Do they say that to everyone? I worry about everything. Know I should have been going yearly but no doctor had mentioned it. Am 63. Any advice will be appreciated.
