Good morning ladies,is it possible to still have chemo brain 3months after chemo,because i cant remember alot of things and im really forgetfull.Do you ever get normal again?.....Tammy

Unfortunately, studies have shown that even as much as ten years out, chemobrain stays with you. And, it also depends on how much chemo, what it was, and how long you had it.

I am the reigning queen of chemobrain and I have learned to carry a little notepad when I start crying because I can't remember things. I leave little sticky notes all over and a big sign on my door that reminds me if I've got something in the oven before I go off.

MK talked me into getting a timer that goes around my neck. When I'm wearing it, it helps me to remember something's in the oven. Chemobrain is just another one of the things that wasn't in the b/c brochure.

PS - I forgot to tell you that double radiation left my right internal carotid artery 60-70% blocked. I'm sure that this has something to do with forgetting things.

I'am almost 3 months out, and still have chemo brain too. Its very frustrating, and anyone who knows me will tell you I could hold it all together before. During chemo it got so bad I would go grocery shopping and put the ice-cream in the cabinet. My poor husband was dumbfounded that I could do such a thing. I was hopeing it would get better little by little. Sometimes I feel like a scatter brain.

I asked my doctor about this and he said chemo doesnt effect the brain,i dont believe him because i have put the icecream in the cabinet also...Tammy

I'm back to tell you that the doctor outright lied. Chemotherapy most certainly affects the short term memory. In fact, it just about kills it. I'd say that he should be keeping on top of chemo treatments and side effects. If he'd check on the net, he would see the studies done about chemo brain. Some doctors should be shot just because they need it.

I lost my watch for two weeks before I found it in the freezer. I can walk the 15 steps from my pc to my kitchen and not remember a thing. I can read the same page in a book 4 or 5 times and still not understand. I cannot call any of the children by their names. I never get Joseph, Jordan, Jaidan, Jodi or John right. I have never been so tongue-tied since chemo although the two dozen mini-strokes could have had some part of that.

Give me his snail mail and I'll anonymously send him the info.
