I have been on Arimidex for a month. I take it in the morning with an Aleve. No problems until this week. The calves of both legs are sore, like I have walked too much. Later in the day it goes away.  Is this a result of the arimidex or because of the cool weather here at night? I do not want to call the med onc, because I plan to cancel my appt next week and change to another when I find one. This is not a serious problem, but I do want to stay on top of this.

Arimidex is known for the possibility of joint pain. Taxol is known for the pain in the calves. My onc described it as having been hit behind the knee with a steel bar. There are many women here and I'm sure someone has gone through this.

I'm on femara about 3 years, have the same aches and pains, sometimes just the legs, sometimes all over sometimes nothing at all. Sometimes it's a vicodin day, sometimes tylenol, sometimes nothing, no rhyme or reason that I can figure out and I've given it lots of thought. The one thing that can help is a good nights sleep on a comfortable bed by yourself, no husbands, boyfriends, friends, family, dogs or cats. It's worth it to invest in a feather bed cover, memory foam or egg carton pad or something like that with your favorite pillows. An electric blanket in the winter may help too. The aches and pains were worse for me for about the first 6 months after I started femara, every day was a vicodin day, it's gotten better but has not gone away and doubt it ever will. I guess it's just one of those lessor of 2 evil choices, and I'll gladly accept the aches and pains choice any and every day! Good luck!

You know JUJU I get that too and I am on arimidix too, it comes and goes. I started taking mag 300mg a day and omega3 1 tab 1000mg (Norwegian salmon oil) daily and I have no scientic evidence that it works but for me it has helped me alot. I also wear compression panty hose when I work, and I work 12hour shifts 3 days a week. With all of this my leg pains are almost gone and after my 12 hours shift on my feet the whole time when I get home I have no leg pain at all. I can't tell you what causes the pain but know this has worked for me. I asked my onc before I started taking the tabs if it was ok and he said it was fine wouldn't interfer with arimidix and when I come back in Dec he is going to see how it helped me and may suggest other patients take it too. I also take calcium and a multivit a day too along with my effexor... good luck and talk with your onc and see what he can suggest or if it thinks this will work for you.... skeeter1
