Let me try to describe this the best I can. I am having almost like post nasal drip into my throat, but I know it's not that because this just started since I started chemo. I can be sitting here and all of a sudden it's like a few drops of (I don't know what) saliva, maybe nasal drip?? drips down and like almost chokes me. I start coughing real hard for just 3-4 times, but it's an awful feeling. And it's not constant. It just happens all of a sudden with no warning. I always feel like I have a small lump in my throat anyway since doing chemo.

Sounds like an allergy to me. My sinus drip most of the time and I had no chemo. Just my 2 cents. Lauri

I haven't had chemo, but I do have some allergy problems. Also GERD can make you cough and I have heard that sometimes chemo can cause problems like that. Just a couple of thoughts....no concrete knowledge for sure. Hope you find the answer, call the onc's office tomorrow. Hugs MK

This sounds like allergies to me and I have always had allergies. They have been much worse since chemo. No meds would control them. Went to ENT last week and he added Flonase and Singular. Will let you know if it works.

Be carefuul because that is how mine started after chemo and then it went into bronchitis. I too have allergies but this is not the same. Mine started out like yours until I coughed almost constantly. Tell your Dr and get some antibiotics quick, remember I had my cough for over a month.

By the way how have your treatments been going? Did you have your 2nd one yet? I just finished my AC and will start Taxol next week. How is the hair??? I have not seen you post anymore on it.

kattbird, Are you taking cytoxan as well for chemo? some of the info i was given on this drug were; nasal congestion and headache, dry cough, flu-like symptoms. These seem to be a normal thing, although you said it feels like post nasal drip. I am new to all this, but after my first treatment, I got the coughing and started having to blow the nose all the time. I have only had 1 treatment. So this is just what I read. Like Bernadette said it could turn into something else, since our immune system is weakened. Hope you get better soon. ((((HUGGS)))))))) Carol

I had a lot of trouble when I was doing chemo. I never thought much of it until I relized that I did not have any nasal hair left and so my nose ran all the time. Down the back of my throat and out my nose. Since my hair has grown back in the prblem has just about gone.

Good grief! I looked this a.m. and I have VERY FEW hairs inside my nose. I hope that is the reason my nose runs all the time and that the hairs will grow back real soon. Thanks for the info, MK.

Well, it almost seems like it was coming up my throat. It's better now. I noticed to I don't have any nose hairs! confused   I don't remember what my cocktail is. I had a visit with the Onc yesterday and she said something about one of the drugs making it seem like or bring on allergies. I don't have any allergies that I know of prior to all of this. I have noticed my nse being runnier the last few days, but I'm not sure if I may be coming down with a cold or not. I would only cough though when the saliva or whatever it may be would hit that little thingy that hangs down in the back of your throat. Just think, I get to do it all again next Wednesday! mad
