Burning sensation around breasts

I am new to this forum. I am a little concerned about my symptoms. I have been experiencing a burning sensation on the side and outer upper area of my breast. It is tender and a shooting pain near my nipple. It burns when I touch my breast. If my breast are not burning if I palpate my breast they start to burn. My breast in not red unless I touch it. It has been this way since Dec. 25 of 2016. It start with burning on the side of breast than the upper outer. It literally fills like fire. I also have started to fill burning from my right breast the same way but only the upper outer part of my breast. I have a small firm lump near the are wear the burning sensation is and I have a medium size movable lump until that arm. My right breast just started to have a burning sensation 3 days ago. No fun. I am scheduled to get a diagnostic mammogram in 2 weeks. I don't know what to think. I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Two weeks is a long time to wait to get a diagnostic mammo. Not that your condition will worsen in that time, just the 2 weeks spent worrying (which you can't help but do) can seem interminable. If you live in any kind of populated area, there are usually many, many places that could do your mammo. The place your doctor referred you to has a 2 week wait. But you don't have to go there. Call your insurance company and ask what other radiation centers are covered in your area and see if you can get a quicker appointment.

But regardless if you still have to wait the 2 full weeks, try to keep as many positive thoughts in your head as possible. There are many things that could cause your symptoms, and not all of them are "dreadful".... Even hearing that it is the dreaded "cancer", should not keep you from feeling positive. Getting a diagnosis is the start. Whatever you have, you then start your path toward healing. Hopefully yours will be a short path involving antibiotics or something relatively minor.

Thanks for your response. I will look for other options. I am concerned but not expecting the worst. I have other health issues that's keeping my mind occupied. I just try to get as much information as possible so I can be knowledgeable when I get results. I have searched info regarding swollen lymph nodes, fibrocystic breast and IBC etc...

I got a mammogram and then was told I needed a recheck but could not get in for three weeks. I have had several rechecks but they have always been real quick. After 2 1/2 hours of mammograms and sonagram and the technicians asking the doctor questions, I was pretty sure it was cancer and now I am really mad that it took so long. I do think I will survive and am ready for the fight but this staph infection is kicking my behind.

Thanks for responding. Sorry to hear you have a staph infection. No fun. I just want an answer so that I can rest my mind. The lump I have is very small so it's a chance that it may be something else. The burning sensation is the most bothersome. I also have a shooting pain at times. I praying that your staph infection clears up soon and never reruns again. God bless you.

I too had a burning and pulling sensation in my left breast. I started having mammograms and ultrasounds in my late thirties. I had non malignant nodules in two areas of my breast. These nodules were checked every 6 months for about three years. After three years I thought it was pointless to put me through all this stress. Out they went and I don't have to think about them any more.

Thanks for the reply. I had a mammogram and ultrasound. The mammogram tech and ultrasound tech could feel the lump but couldn't detect it. My report stated that I had scattered fibrograndular tissue. I have an appointment on 2/10 for breast exam and to discuss the results. I started a new pain pill that help with the burning sensation. Still uncomfortable when palpated. The lump is underneath the breast tissue.

I have the exact same symptoms you have. Burning in breast swollen lymph nodes. Started in right breast now feeling it in left breast. I am very concerned and scared. Can’t sleep, can’t eat. Also have to wait too long for diagnostic mamo. The waiting is killing me.
