I am so sad..I had to put my cat Cody to sleep this morning.....

Last week he started not acting himself...very sluggish etc...I took him to vet

on Saturday morning and he said I had a very sick cat. Something with the liver...

the whites of his eyes were very yellow. They took blood to run a cbc panel.

By this morning he couldnt even walk. I had to carry him everywhere.

The Dr. called this morning ...Without doing more tests, the Dr said it was liver and

 kidney failure and probably Lymphoma.

I am so sad. I miss him already....

Cathi: I am sending you lots of hugs. I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I know that you are hurting and missing him already. Our pets become such an important part of our family life and are always there for us - no matter what kind of mood we are in. I can tell that you loved him very much.

Cathi - my condolances. There is nothing like a stretched out furry stomach to pet when you are down. I know that some people (not pet owners) that would shake their head at mourning over a pet, but they really are wonderful companions. My step father calls them fur people.
My heart goes out to you.

Oh, Cathi. I'm so sorry. Can't help crying at the thought of your having to say bye to Cody. What a dear companion you had. Our pets are not just animals but members of our families. I know you're going to miss this member of your family.

Iam so sorry to hear about your furry friend, I have to say I can feel your pain. I have 2 miniature schnauzers and a cat and they are NOT pets they are family. I cried when I read your post, you have lost a dear friend.

I am from another forum (another disease) but your headline caught my eye today. So, with respect, I would like to send my sympathies.
Two weeks ago today we had to put our 2 yr old cat, Buckles, to sleep. He suffered from an intercranial disorder (possibly a tumor or genetic neurological disorder). I still miss him so much, especially at night, but find comfort in knowing that we gave him the best possible home and the most love that any kitty could have ever wanted. I know he is in a better place and is no longer tortured by a devastating illness, and the same goes for your Cody. If someone had told me 2 years ago that I could have that cute little kitty, but he would only live for 2 short years, I wouldn't have changed a thing. In a way, I know that we enrich their lives too. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm not a pet owner, I am too allergic to cats and most dogs, but I do understand the loss you are feeling. It is far too sad when you lose something that means so much. Cats are so independent and dogs seem to always wag their tails whatever happens. They know when you're down and when you're ill. They also let you know when they don't want to be bothered.

You're in my prayers, as always, and so is Cody right now. You'll hook up again, you know. He won't ever be replaced but, if you can find it in your heart, I'm sure there's another wee kitten out there who needs you.

Broken hearts do mend, Sis. Why not help the mending process with another animal that may need to mend, too? Your heart is just too big to close the pet door.

I'm really sorry for your loss.  I hope your Cody is out of pain now.  I hope you find other comforts for yourself.  I hope you adopt another one, because I'm sure you would make a great caretaker for a cat.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I almost lost Wren last spring. She is getting older and on daily heart medicine. It's just she and I and I know that I'll have to part with her someday, or she with me, but I do believe that there are animals in Heaven and I hope to meet her again. I really do think so Cath! I'm going to watch the special on Heaven tonight and I'll see if anyone mentions this. I know what it means to have them during our treatments and mine has waited for me to come home from the hospital so many times. I think God has a special place in Heaven for our chemo friends.

Oh Cathy, I am so sorry to hear this.  I know how hard it is.  I had to do the same to my cat (the first time ever) 2 years ago.  It was very hard and I cried and cried.  She was our baby.  Have you heard of the poem Rainbow Bridge?  It's very touching regarding our furry friends when we lose them.
