Hello. I want to know something about port erosion. I didn't see a regular cancer site, so I decided to post my question here. My husband had Stage 3 colon cancer and was having pain on the side where the port was put in even though he hadn't had chemo treatments in about a year and a half. We just had it taken out last week and the doctor said it had eroded. Is that why he was hurting so much and feeling so bad? Has anyone else heard of this? Thank you.

Hello & and welcome to Healing Well. I am assuming your husband is cancer free, awesome. I cannot answer your question about the port eroding, but I am sure that would be very possible. Usually we hear more about people getting infections with them & having them removed.

This forum is pretty inactive, however, you may want to ask your question at a cancer forum called Inspire.com. It is a busy & resourceful forum. Hopefully in another week or so your husband will be healed up & the pain will be gone.
