Well, looks like I will be doing chemo again... mad I had a bone scan and then a MRI and the

MRI showed many new tumors on the spine. Way to many to radiate. Also a herniated

disc showed up. I am doing a CT scan of Abdomen, pelvis and chest on Jan. 16th

and then meet with Onc on Jan. 19th. I am going on vacation on Feb 18th for a week and I

told her I wont do anything until after that. She wasnt pleased...She wants to start

me on Gemzar. Does anyone have any input on Gemzar ?

Oh Cathi! I sure can't help with any information about Gemzar but you know you have my prayers and love. It is time for this BS to give you a break. Keep us posted on what is happening. We love you and care............... MK

Cathi: ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) I am so sorry that you have received this news. This darn disease is not fair! I don't know much about the chemo that you will be taking other than it was approved in the spring of 2004 for several different types of cancer, including met. bc. The overall results are excellent. I think that the side effects are basically the same...fatigue, neuropathy, etc. I couldn't find anywhere that it said there would be loss of your hair. Having had a recurrance, I know how discouraged you are feeling. Just get good and mad and beat it again. Ask your onco when you meet w/ her what difference it would make about starting the treatment after your vacation. Is there any chance that you could change the dates and take your vacation earlier? Either way, enjoy your plans and to hell w/ what the future holds in the way of treatments. We will be here for you, every step of the way.

Ah, Cathleen, my dear, sweet friend.  How I wish I could take this from you. 

What I can do is love you dearly and pray for you daily.  Please know that not a day goes by that we don't think of you.  I'm sending hugs today and always.  May God bless you as you continue your fight.

Hello Cath from a long term fellow fighter. I, too, am in the midst of it - Just took my bi-weekly Herceptin/Abraxane and bgan my 7 days on Xeloda but next week I have bothing. I am bald again for the 5th time . . I know I have done Gemzar and since I have no real recollection of it, it must have been okay.  Hang in their and put your wants and need first. After this long we say what, when, where and occaisionally even "no!"

Sweet Cathi, I so hate this disease. I am very, very sorry to hear about the new spots on your spine. Also, hate like heck that you will have to be on chemo again. Hope that it is easy on you like it apparently was with Jackie. If you're up to calls, let me know. I know that sometimes we just don't want to continuously talk about our health issues - just want to forget about it.

As I'm sure you are well aware, I'm not a good correspondent; but even when I don't post, write or call, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cathi,

I sure wish that there would be something that I could say or do to make all of this go away for you and that you would not have to be dealing with it.

Please know that I am thinking of you and will be sending out prayers that you will be doing much better real soon. 

You go on that vacation and worry about this when you get back. Hope you will be doing something extra special, because you sure do deserve the best!!!!!!!!

My dear friend Cathi,

I knew it was time to check in on the boards again.  Just a feeling I had.  Sending gigantic hugs to you as you go through yet another set back.  It isn't fair, but you, my friend are a strong person and if anyone can do this you can.  You know that your friends on this board and all over are with you as you once again go through another round of chemo.

Take your vacation as planned - maybe the Dr will work it so you can have a treatment before you go.  I am not familiar with this type of chemo, but check it out and go for whatever is recommended.

Cathi, my dear, that just plain old sucks. Sending you lots of hugs and well wishes. Maybe the new chemo will put this sucker in regression. Would just LOVE to see that happen.

Same here. Not a day goes by without my thinking of you. I even have a card you sent me up on mantle. I agree. Go on vacation. If you could have a treatment first, that would be better-maybe. I had to fight to get a treatment started eartly once when I had a flight planned. With a lot of screaming, yes, screaming, it worked. The onc was a tur_ anyway. I have a new one. I did get my treatment eary though. It's too bad we have to do that but my STL hospital wanted it early too. Where are you going if I may ask? Yes, have many peach drinks or what ever and have a good time. I will be thinking of you and of, course you know you are always in my prayers. I love you lots. Di
