Driving while undergoing Chemo

Lapilot, I happened to see your post & wanted to respond. I am sorry to read what your friend has going on. This forum tends to run slow. I went to Drugs.com & looked up each of these medications & the side effects. That website gives very detailed information on medications, including what drugs that can interact with each other. All 4 medications appear to have some of the same potential side effects. Each person reacts so differently & it is going to depend on what your friend can tolerate. I have a good friend that went through breast cancer & was cancer free for some time. The cancer came back & it's pretty much everywhere. She is currently doing chemo & she gets sick on the morning of day 2. She has a lot of pain & horrible nausea & has to take medications. She has been on chemo about 2 months & she is really struggling. She said she had forgotten how sick chemo made her before. She is a fighter & has battled it so hard for so many years. She is 72 years old. I do not know what medication she is on either.

It sort of sounds like this lady is not very informed about her treatment. If she goes to the above site I posted she can read there about the side effects. It will be questionable on whether she will be able to drive herself. I am sorry I can't give you a definite answer.

Most likely, your friend will need rides to and from the infusion center. Along with the chemotherapy medication, she will be receiving some medications to reduce side effects. These can make you sleepy or dizzy. With that in mind, she should not be driving.

The nausea and sick that one usually experiences during chemo usually hits about 30-48 hours after infusion and can last 3-5 days after that. It’s a rough time. She will need help and support in the form of food, house keeping, errands etc.
