Hi all. JunieWunie here again.  I've been having weird skin problems  I finished all treatments in 2003.  I had to see a dermatologist for little blisters that have been showing up. They have blood and a clear fluid in them (boils they think). When I pop them (ITCHY!), a pockmark is left with itchy scabs. They are a royal drag. I also have super dry skin over my mastecomy site.  Anyone have such things happening?

Junie - No little blisters with blood and fluid in them, but I have lichen planus outbreaks. These lesions also itch like crazy. They start as a little red bump like lesion. They itch and are very scaly. As they heal, they turn a purplish color with a shiny top. The purple scar does not go away. This started about 3-months before my diagnosis. My PCP says it can be a precursor for breast cancer. I have had at least four outbreaks of it since then. Dermatologist has shot steroid into a large one on the top of my foot three times now. Ouch!!!

Makes me wonder if it is a relative of what I have.

My surgical sites itch a lot, but no noticeable dry skin in the area.

HI! Thanks for writing! You know, some of my bumps are little red ones too! The two dermatologists that I saw never really said what the bumps/sores were/are. They have a shiny top when they are healing too. They aren't purple tho. They are very annoying!  The newest one, on my right leg, started as a red bump. I thought it was a mosquito bite. I scratched it and some sticky stuff ran out of it and dried up leaving a little pockmark.

I'm going to search lichen planus and see what I come up with.  And what does precursor mean??

Hey Junie - Precursor means "it could come before". Kind of like a warning or a beforehand symptom.

My PCP has done biopsies of my lesions three separate times now...one on the inside of my thigh, one on the inside of my foot, and one on my arm. She had a fairly good idea of the dx before the biopsies, though.

I also get them in my mouth (oral lichen planus) and vaginally. I had my worst outbreak of the oral kind during my chemo. Its classic design is a white striated look (it reminds people of spider webs) on the gums and on the tongue. It makes me really sensitive to spices. My mouth burns like I am eating hot, Mexican food with many, many foods that have no hot spice taste at all.

I would think that if two dermatologists have seen these lesions, at least one of them would have known that it was lichen planus, if it was.

Good luck on finding out what they are and what to do to help with the itching. I know the itching can really be annoying and painful at times.

   I found some pictures of l. planus on the web. It doesn't look like what I have. I do pray you won't have too many outbreaks of it! (None at all hopefully!)  The dermatologists gave me 2 prescriptions for it.  It's just such a weird thing. My oncologist had never seen such sores before. I have made a promise to myself to try not to pick at them. Thanks so much for sharing with me!
