Dear friends,

I am so sorry that I have been missing from the board for a while. Things have been crazy around here and I just havent been into posting.

Rachel, my 29 year old daughter, has Vulvar Cancer. about 6 or 7 weeks ago Rachel went for her annual Ob/Gyn appointment. While she was there she told her

Dr that she had this lump. The Dr looked at it and Immediately ordered a biopsy.The following week she had a surgical biopsy. After doing testing on the tissue

twice, it was confirmed that it was cancer. I am still in shock. It is really horrible when your child is diagnosed with cancer. This type of cancer is very rare,especially in young women. It is usually found in women over 50 or 60 yrs old.

She was referred to the chief Gynecologic Oncologist at the cancer center that I am being treated at...I went with her for this appointment. He is a wonderful man with a

very kind and gentle bedside manner. He is very optomistic that we caught this early.Her surgery is on Monday morning to remove more tissue and make sure they getclear margins. Rachel is so young. She just turned 29 on the 4th of July. She is married and has 3 children. ( 9,6 and 3) Her youngest Anthony is Autistic and has very special needs...So I am asking that you all please include Rachel in your prayers, especially on Monday. As for chemo and or radiation, we dont know yet.

I want to thank Beverly for asking about me ! How sweet of her to think of me and to ask how I am doing. I am still doing Gemzar 3 weeks on and 1 week off. Also doing Zometa every 4 weeks. I had a bone scan 2 weeks ago and it came back as

everything being pretty stable. So for now I will continue on  that protocol.

I want to thank Joyce and her dear husband Vic for all the love and support they have given me over the past month or so...I had told her about Rachel and I couldnt have asked for a kinder, loving friend...

Awww, Cathi you have made my eyes leak. PCE will be loaded for Monday, and you know we will all be there. As often as you have been there for others, I am sure that plane will be lucky if it is able to get airborne. I still do not know how you are dealing with all of this. Its bad enough what you are going through, but then to have your child facing this....Its to awful to think about. Those are some shoes I know I am not strong enough to walk in. OH {{{{{{{{{{{Cathi}}}}}}}}}} I don't know what to say! I am so so very sorry to hear your Rachael has cancer. I will pray that they got it all and that she will not ever have to deal with it again! I also will pray for you, not only for your own treatments, but that you stay as strong as you need to be for her. I love you dear friend, and I will be on the PCE with many others.

Cathi: I am so sorry to hear about Rachel. It is bad enough that we, as mothers, grandmothers, etc, have to deal w/ this but to have your child facing it, I can't imagine. I am praying that she won't have to have chemo and/or rads. I hope that you will remember to take care of YOU. Rachel is going to continue to need the strength that you have been giving her for these past weeks.

I will be on the PCE on Monday. If necessary, we will get a bigger plane to transport everyone.

Lots of prayers and strength being sent to you, Rachel and your family.

Dear Cathi,

Rachel and her family are in my prayers right now.  You too!!!  The Lord is good and will be with all of you on Monday (actually always).  Lean on Him for your strength.  I'll be on the PCE fighting with all the others to hold your hand.

Ooooooh Cathi, I am so, so sorry. I know how frightening it is to have your daughter diagnosed. Much, much worse than your own diagnosis. You are right she is way to young to deal with all she has on her plate. I know she has good support in her mother and hope and pray her husband and the rest of the family are also very supportive of her. Please let us know what her treatment will be and how things go on Monday. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and pray all goes well.

PS No, no word on Christian's pathology yet. Drs office says the holiday held it up. Maybe Monday.

Oh, Cathi, I am stunned by your news.  We, as mothers, can deal with so much, but when something affects our babies, that's a different story altogether.  My heart hurts for you, and your daughter and her family.  My children were 6, 4 and 2 when I was dx and I remember the terror in thinking they I wouldn't see them grow up.  But, take refuge in the fact that it seems to have been caught quickly (kudos to her Dr. who didn't do one of those 'wait and see' dumb approaches), and we'll pray that the surgery gets every last cancer cell.  I am sending prayers of comfort and strength to you.... hope things improve soon.  Hugs, Stefanie

Oh Cathi, I can only imagine what you are going through. There is nothing worse for a mother to have a child become ill. I will be up well before dawn to make the PCE to be with you and your daughter. Prayers will be started shortly from Texas.

If you will just stand still and close your eyes, you will feel my hug. I love you, Sis.

Cathi, this news has taken my breath away.  I am so very sorry to hear about Rachel.  It sounds like her dr is on top of things, and she has a mother who loves her dearly and will see her through this.  You know that I will be praying for both of you and that I hold you close in my heart.

Oh Cathi, I am so sorry to hear this, I am just sickened. Thank heavans she has an A#1 doctor on her team and an A#1 Mom on her side....I can imagine how you must feel kicked in the gut on this,....let us help you however we can. I am liking the sound of your optimism and will hold onto it for Monday as I board the PCE.

I am so sorry to hear this news.  Rachel, her family and you will be in my thoughts.  I'm glad she has a good doctor and you by her side.  I will be crossing my fingers and toes and anthing else I can that they get good margins.  I'll be onboard the PCE along with the rest of the gang Monday for support.

Oh, Honey, I can't believe this is happening.  I am certainly praying for all of you.  Thank Goodness they caught it early.  I'm glad your daughter thought to mention the lump.  She's smart like her mom!!!!

 

I'm waiting for the PCE to pick me up.

Oh Cath, I cannot even imagine everything you are going through.  My prayers are with you and your daughter and you can be sure I'll be on the PCE.  Stay strong hon, and feel all the love surrounding you.

We just got back from vacation on Friday and this is the first I have checked into Healingwell.    I am just heartsick to read your post.  It must have been just devastating to hear that news about your daughter.  How much can one family endure?

I will be sending prayers her way and yours too.

Oh, Cathi!  How awful for you!!!  I will add Rachel to my prayers, and I am sure she will be fine, but I know how this must weigh on you... and on her, as well.

I have been in and out of town for the last three weeks, and haven't checked the board.  What a shock!  We just got back from Marietta today, where we were visiting a friend who has been fighting advanced colon cancer (liver mets).  His wife walked out on him a couple of months ago.  Seems he just didn't have the energy to keep up with her anymore, so she was unhappy, and heaven forbid she be unhappy.  The sad thing is, he misses her so darned much.  He just wants her to come home.  He is the sweetest, most gentle man. 

But Cathi...your baby!  I am so sorry you have this extra load to bear.  If there is anything I can do...

I am so sorry for this latest blow. I can only imagine how scary it must be. It's bad enough when it happens to us, but to have it happen to our children is all the more heartbreaking. Know that you & Rachel are in my prayers.

Cathi,

I came across your story of your daughter having cancer and I am truly sorry. Just know that God is in control. I have to share with you some very important information on something that has been answered prayer. Just recently a major scientific and medical discovery of how the body heals and repairs itself. I have had a life threatening disease that has been totally reversed. This new technology is safe and natural and is very effective in cancer. I just had a friend have her blood work come back normal after suffering from leukemia. I love sharing this with people it could help and I would love to offer more help to you and your daughter, just let me know.
