OK, congratulate me! I've now had the pap and the mammo. I went to my new GYN to get the final results from that sonogram of the cervical area too. I forgot to have the surgical record sent to her of the hyster and oopher, and she says she really needs to see it now. She got a lab back from that surgery, but wierdly, there was no ovarian tissue among the tissue tested. She wants to make sure I did indeed have an oopher that day along with the hyster, because if I didn't, it could be "not good." Nothing to be alarmed about, I hope. I just have to get those records to her.
RE: breast: Well, there's a new procedure I'm having called a dilon scan. Radioactive dye and a scan reveal cancer as spots in dense breasts. I have dense breasts (my original 2.5cm lump never showed up on a mammo). The dilon gives fewer false positives than an MRI, which I was going to be having every year. He just has to battle with the insurance company now. I hope they don't give him a hard time.
I had complained to the mammo tech that I think I feel a bump when I gloss over an area on the side of my right breast when I put my bra on sometimes. When I stop to examine the area, however, I don't feel anything. My breast surgeon also checked it out (before I told him) and I noticed he did a double take there too. He thinks it's nothing. The radiologist did an extra mammo of the area and it was normal, apparently. Then she told me about the dilon scan I was to have, and mentioned a sono in passing We never scheduled a sono, but scheduled the dilon. Then I got home to a message that I was to have a sono of that breast first, before the dilon. Now, I'm not worried, well maybe a little. I don't think they're suspicious of the area persay...... Oh, you know how it goes.
I'm going for the sono on Nov 10. the dilon the following tuesday. So much for saving sick time for halloween and class mom stuff with matthew in school. I'll be going to the city for scans again.
My back was totally out the past two days!!!! I couldn't do much at all. I have to call my PCP and let him know. It was worse than it ever has been. Thank GOODNESS it passed. I had an x-ray recently, degeniterative disc disease progressing somewhat. but boy, that was severe!!!
