Chemo and radiation

had my meeting with the surgeon today for the SNB results....he said he feels it is late stage I, or very early stage II, NO nodes involved...not a single infection. His office already has me set up with consultations for onocologist, chemo one on the 29th and radiation one on Dec. 12.

Now on to the next step, now that I know what Im facing it isnt as bad as my little mind keep seeing it.

If anyone has suggestion on these next steps Im all ears....

Lauri has given you good information. CHemo may be advised as a standard protocol based on your tumor size and other prognostic indicators. And yes, negative nodes is the most wonderful news you could get! Celebrate it! And then take comfort in your plan...to see the med onc and rad onc. Take that tape recorder too. I would encourage you to read or learn what you can before you go so that you can ask the best possible questions.
Also, you may want to ask for a pathology report, it will become your friend.

Welcome back!!! How was your mini vacation?

Im hoping the same thing too...it was a relief to just have surgery and then again to find the negative node involvement. You will get to this point soon!!!!!!

Yes the surgeon said that they recommend some chemo and radiation because of my age (46). He said it will greatly improve my odds of reoccurance or it showing up in other areas.

He said that he has to put it at stage II, since the requirements for Stage I are: tumor 2cm or less and mine measured 2.4 cm once it was removed, but felt it was in the VERY early stage II.

As everyone strongly suggested here I got a copy of my path report. Im must have read it a 100 times yesterday(just to make sure in my own mind I guess).

I did a little shopping for the holiday after my appt and by the time I got home my surgeon had already set up the appts for my next step. I see the chemo people on Nov 29, the the rad people on Dec. 12th.

PLEASE do the second opinion just to be absolutely certain of what is going on for you.

I hope that by talking I am of some help to you but I am very new to this myself and not sure of alot of things....

But my outlook here is that there are many, many people here that have experienced what we are going through and are very helpful and comforting.....

Plus I get the opportunity to meet you and many others and I think new friends are what life in made for :)

That is great news that no nodes were involved.  I hope that if chemo is recommended that you have an easy time with it.  Mine wasn't that bad.  I worked through the whole thing and through rads.  Just stay with us here and we'll all help you get through it.
