Hope it went like a breeze.  I know this is a big blow, to have to go back to the koolaid family, but as they say, "Wine is fine, but liquor is quicker."  Here's to the "hard stuff," sweetie.

Dear Bevie...Thanks for thinking of me. I went yesterday saw the Dr. and about 10:30 they started the initial push. The nurse sits with me to make sure no reaction...Well.after about maybe a minute my face was beet red & my face was swelling. I couldnt breath...I am not going into the gorry details, but I will tell you that it was the worse thing I have been thru.....and the pain was unbelieveable horrible.Never had pain like that...stayed at hospital until about 7:00....and I insisted on going home. My poor sister was more exhausted then I was...I felt so bad.

I will see my onc next week and go back to the drawing board.

Well, crap! That really sucks, Cath. They definitely need to come up with something better than that! And I'm sure they will. I'll bet your sister was scared to death, poor thing! I think sometimes what you go through is magnified for the people who are trying to help you through it. I'm sure she felt very helpless, and in her mind, she was supposed to be "helping you through it."

But just think...if it kicked your butt that fast, it surely took a few cancer cells with it, don't you think???

Darn and double darn!!  Bevvie is right, it sure does suck, but her other thought about the severity of the chemo doing a number on the c. cells makes sense, too.

 

I'm sorry, sweet Cathi, that you're going through this pain and that this awful crap is starting up again.  I know how strong you are - just wish I could add some of my strength to yours.

 

I hope you know that I love you, and will be praying with the rest of the board that being the winner you are, you'll, of course, win this time too.

Gosh darn it (to echo the sentiments of my friend Glenda!). Cathi, there just has to be a better way. THank heavens you are ok though, and sorry you had to go through that. Nothing is ever easy, and it does sure bite. Give an extra little squeeze to that new kitty of yours and hope you can enjoy a peaceful and content new year celebration.

Oh Cathi, that sounds awful! I'm sorry you went through that. Like Bev said, being such tough stuff, that could mean it will kill off those cancer cells really good! We are all praying for you sweetie, and love you very much!

Boy that Bev can spin great.  Never ever stop posting Bev.  May that have blasted many a cancer cell.

 

OK, Cath, now let me ask, didn't you have the Adrio family of chemo before?  I wonder why this reaction all of a sudden?  Searching for that kind of an answer must be exhausting in and of itself in your mind, but I couldn't help but wonder.  Giving up wondering about this stuff may be a good choice for the moment just to relieve the mishigas, as we say in Yiddish.  However, this doesn't mean that the fight is over, babe, and a question like that may start the onc on a train of investigation that leads to a new drawing, no?  Ask the question and see what the onc's thoughts are about it, maybe he's come up with something.  Let's see if the onc can figure out a new drawing that's more doable for  you. 

 

The kitten is putting good chemicals in your body by generating laughter, that will help you find strength.  We are doing what we can and I am, of course, praying.  I'm sure your onc has had successes he can't explain, and prayers and laughter will help contribute to another one.

 

Your back to posting, and that's going to elicit more positive energy your way too.  These are all good things.

Hi, Cathi...sorry to be awol so long. I do check in occasionally, but seeing this post, I just HAD to respond.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. At least they were watching you closely for a reaction (and boy, sounds like you gave them a doozy). I hope they can find something in the growing list of chemo drugs that will do you some good and let you breathe at the same time.

I think of you often. Take care.

Oh Sweetie,

I've been worried about you so thought I better check in tonight.  This is my celebrating New Years.  Don't like the sounds of that reaction, but like everyone else has said, maybe it zapped some of the C cells as well.

That had to be soooo scarey.  So glad that your sister was right there by your side.  She must be an extra special sis!!!!  

I am sure that your onc will find the right combination for you, and one that doesn't react as that one did.  Geez!

Try to keep that fightin attitude that you have always had.  I will be sending prayers that they find an answer for the best treatment for you real soon.

Hello Cathi! Wow, I am so sorry to hear about the reaction that you had to the chemo. I am fortunate that thru 5 yrs of chemo, I have never had that type of reaction. Perhaps the dosage was to high and that is what caused the reaction or maybe they can give you a drug before the chemo that will offset the reaction. I hope and pray that it is something simple so that you can get on w/ the fight. I love what Bev said in her posts and agree w/ her 1000%. Some of those darn cells had to die during the treatment.

Rest and enjoy your kitty as much as possible. Sometimes I wish that I wasn't allergic to cats because this new puppy I got for Christmas is a little spit fire. Never a dull or quiet moment. lol
