Prayers for my ex-brother-in-law

I found out yesterday he was diagnosed with colon cancer.  He's only in his early 50's.  It was found through a blood test, so I hope that doesn't mean it's in an advanced stage.  He goes for a colonoscopy on Thursday and then see's an onc.  My sister and I, along with my niece and nephew could use some good vibes and prayers.  My family still considers him part of our family.  If any of you have any info I could pass along to him, I would appreciate it.

Hello. I am 34 years old and a breast cancer patient and i see so much of it all the time, all kids of cancers. I volenteer as well at my cancer clinic and i see alot of people that think it is so grim but you know something!!! He needs to think postitive and so do you. I was at stage 3/4 for all and i did it and so can he and your family. I will pray for your whole family and i hope you all do well.

Colon cancer is a rough one for sure. I don't know anything about the blood test to diagnose, but am familiar with the colonoscopy as many of us here are. It's good that you are all being so supportive of him. God knows he probably needs all the support he can get. As we all know the word cancer is never easy to hear and digest. I'm praying for him over here in The Catskills.  I love that your family still considers him part of the family.  There's a lot of love there and that will help for sure.

Kathy, I have to tell you I thought I knew something about it because a relative had it. I keep forgetting a couple of years later and you do not know anything anymore. So much has changed I am also learning all over again about this. I did not realize they check nodes with colon. Live and learn. I pray your ex bil comes through fine. He must be something very special to have his ex in laws asking for prayers. Prayers and hugs. Joyce

Thanks for all your messages.  I knew you would come through!  He seems to be in pretty good spirits.  He sees the onc Monday.  I guess the colonoscopy yesterday didn't go so well.  Not sure on the details, but it seems like it will be done again (maybe it wasn't done at all).  Anyway, my niece is taking it very hard.  Her mother doesn't live in OH, so she's pretty much on her own, but the rest of the family is close by (except me!)  I sent my ex-BIL an email with my support and suggestions.  He appreciated it.  I'll keep you posted as I know more.

OK, it just keeps getting worse.  It's evidently not colon cancer, but he has a tumor at the base of his esophagus and 2 large tumors (6 & 7 cm) on his liver, plus spots on his stomach.  It's also in the lymph nodes.  They did a biopsy this morning, so will advise when I know more.  I am just sick about this whole thing.  His kids don't know the whole story yet, but once they know more, they will talk to them.  Please keep them in your prayers.  We need a big divine intervention.  Thanks to all of you.

Kathy, that is so, so unfair and so unfortunate. Oh, man, I hope you'll tell them there are people praying for him in NJ. Hang in there!

Thanks so much.  He will have surgery some time next week to remove hopefully all of the tumor on the esophagus.  It's evidently right where it enters the stomach.  Lymph nodes will be removed, too.  I haven't heard whether they will remove the ones on the liver.  He is scared to death and so are all the family.  His kids (my neice and nephew) are telling him they will be OK and just worry about himself.  Any chance of the PCE making a special flight?  I know it would be going against protocol.  LOL  I really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.
