My thoughts are with those in Minnesota (Lauri, you alright?)

Thanks for the post, Debbie. I meant to get hear earlier, but have been busy sending emails and posting other places and fielding phone calls from around the country. We are safe at home as is the rest of the immediate family. We usually are not in that part of the city, especially at rush hour. THis is a terrible tragedy. Seven dead alreay and at least 20 missing. The news coverage is incredible. Please remember the injured and grieving families in your prayers. Much sorrow in the state of MN. Lauri

Dear Lauri...Glad you are all safe. So sad for the families. And thank God or whoever that that busload of children was spared. It is just surreal when something like this happens...the stuff of nightmares.

There are many "good news" stories in the midst of the catastrophe. Getting those kids off the school bus is one. Just before the bridge came down a tour boat full of people passed under it. There was maintenance work going on the bridge deck, so some of the lanes were closed. Otherwise there would have been even more cars on it and there would have been more fatalities (although the numbers are going to increase as they get to cars submerged in the river). The tragedy and heartache are just immense. I have to turn off the news coverage after a while. It is just overwhelmingly sad.

Good to hear from you, Kitt. Glad your son was safe. There is a poster on the Minnesota board at iVillage whose husband drove across the bridge on his way from work in Roseville to home in Prior Lake just 5 minutes before it went down. She wept when he pulled in the driveway at home. There are countless incredible stories, some with happy endings and many heartbreaking. Lauri

So glad to know you are ok Laurie.  I did worry about you, but only for a few minutes as I remembered how you HATE taking the freeway roads during rush hour time.  Friends, our Laurie will take a lot of back streets to get downtown to see her BC friend (me) during rush hour traffic, because she hates the traffic.  Right Laurie??? LOL

I called our son, Jason, who lives in Sauk Centre just to make sure he wasn't in the cities that day.  We do have a lot of friends in the area, but seems all are ok.  Sounds like the death toll and missing number have been decreased also.  But what a mess.  MSP people and all of you are in my prayers.

So glad you and your family are fine.  I thought of you when I heard this news.  It is absolutely incredible.  I am amazed that more people didn't die.  With all that concrete and rubble, it would seem like there would have been more deaths, so thank goodness.  My thoughts are with those who were injured and the families of the lost loved ones.
