It has been a long time since I logged in here.

I just wanted to stop by and say Thank You to all the village girls who, six years ago, were there for me when I was first diagnosed with cancer. MK, you were the first to tell me to get off my duff and get another opinion and if I hadn't, my cancer would have been found much later, and much more progressed.

When the Breast Surgeon told me that I had cancer, you girls were the first ones I turned to and you got me through the entire thing- from tears through fears through chemo and rads and many surgeries.

I will never forget how special it was back then in the old 'hood.

I beat that triple negative cancer from six years ago.

Unfortunately I am in chemo again because I got a NEW primary of ER/PR ++ LOBULAR of all things in February.

I had a bilateral mast and just finished a long course of Abraxane and will start my next course of chemo next week.

But- and all the doctors say so- I DID BEAT THE TRIPLENEGATIVE cancer and that was supposed to be the hard one to beat.

So I have every intention of kicking this cancer's butt too.

I pray all of you are well.

Thank you for all you did for me. You were my strength and you were my courage. And because of you I am able to help lots of newbies by your example. I will never forget your kindness and compassion.

Glad you stopped by to let us know how you are.  you sound really positive.  I'm glad.  It's been a while.  I'm four years out now.  Thanks to all from me too.  We all need the survivors here, let's not forget!

Jessie, I am sorry to hear that you have new cancer. Jo-Ann also had a different kind that showed up in her other breast. I don't know how much you have followed this board, but in February my daughter was also diagnosed with recurrence, but it is the same cancer spread to bones. She has been doing well with a monthly infusion and daily chemo pills. And here I am pushing 70 down the road, misshapen and more uncomfortable with walking and standing as time goes on. I would have gladly taken the place of a young woman with recurrence. And then there is still my mother, now 94, healthier than all of us, complaining she has lived too long. I just spent a weekend near her and listened to her complain.

Take care of yourself. You are probably better off with the bilateral after all. You sound great, positive and sure that you will beat it. We'll be praying for you, too.

What has happened with your book? I've been hoping to hear it is done and we are going to read it soon.

Well, well, well....a blast from the past! Thanks for stopping by, I was actually thinking about you recently....just wondering what had happened to so many old timers.

I am sorry to hear of your latest battle, what a real pain for you! Sure sounds like you have this all under control and are well on your way to kicking some darn cancer butt! A new primary, what are the odds? Geesh, sorry for this....

And funny...I did not know your name was Gina. I knew Jessie was your cat but never knew your real name! Nice to see you, Gina!

Thanks for the good wishes.
MK, I am so sorry about your daughter! There are lots of girls in my chemo who come in for their Zometa (I think) for bone mets and it is a really quick infusion, like 20- 30 minutes, and then they are back on with their lives again. I hope she is tolerating treatment well.
And Mom is still truckin, eh? Wow.
I am glad to hear you are well.
Ellen, Congrats on your four year! That is awesome.
Lori, aren't you past your 6 year now? Did you get married?
Yes, the odds of getting breast cancer in the other breast are there if you only had a lumpectomy, but for it to change from ductal to lobular and from ER/PR neg to ER/PR ++ is really weird.

Yes, Jessie was my cat. I have a new cat now. But I can't use his name because it is Mr. Fluffy.

Hi Jess...yes, I am passed 6 years...actually dx date was11/30/99...coming up on 8 years! (over 7 since tx ended). Too bad I kept the Tamoxifen weight on though, drats. I have osteo-arthritis in my sternum (sternal-manubrial joint, to be exact), which seems more sensitive from time to time, overall is no hassle. They think it is a s/e of rads. Sometimes i think they just like to blame radiation when they can't explain...but oh well).

And we did get married last year, just had our anniversary on Monday. Work has been unbearably busy for the past few months, I have a huge new client that has had me travelling to Wisconsin, Atlanta, Philly, NC, Ny....for a 3 month period I had a trip every other week, and a few more coming plus 3 personal trips over the next few months. I've also been putting in time at night and weekends, more than I'd like.

Anyway, glad to see you here!

Laurie, There is hope. I am soon to be 12 years from diagnosis. We have many old timers here. Some of them are truly fighters and through aggressive treatment and will they have lived far beyond expectations when they were diagnosed. The good news is that treatment just keeps getting better and better. And it seems to be better to deal with, also.

Lori, you just passed your one year anniversary and we just passed the fifty year mark!!!! Seems like only yesterday... LOL Yeah sure! Sorry you are having to travel so much.

Jessie, yes Mother is still truckin'. She still thinks she controls the world and is giving the nurses and aids a rough time. Yet she is nicer to me! I guess she thinks she lives in a world class hotel and they are there just to meet her demands. LOL Short term memory is really bad, tho. How's your Dad and step mom and the princess?
