Gosh....wonder about the link between stressful jobs and alcohol consumption ;)

Last night I heard yet another study that linked women with stressful jobs to an increased risk factor. Maybe the increased stress leads to increased drinking?? They said it had to do with stress and estrogen levels again. So it must be my fault if I have a stressful job and have a glass of wine at night....

Darn estrogen.

I am all in favor of the studies that are finding factors that increase the risk factors but sure hope that leads to information that helps with treatment and cure.

So much pink in the stores now...in the years since my diagnosis, I have seen an exponential increase in the pink and this and that for the cure products. Bed Bath and Beyond, Krogers, drug stores, Kohl's, Brighton...they all have so many products with corporate sponsors...the awareness and fund raising is all great, just hope that the money leads to what we need.

Boy, you said a lot of right on stuff there.  OK, which should I respond to?  The stressful job, ok, mine is stressful, check!  The whole county is served by my one office and I"m the forensic psychologist so I get the people that need evaluating and treatment for the court system, probation, parole, etc.  It's fascinating at times, but stressful most of the time.  Some of these folks stay on your mind.......  Drinking's not an option, so what to do?  Get BC I guess.....  Another stressor!

 

Selling pink stuff.  yeppers there too.  I'm donating to this site today for the ten bracelets I've sold so far this craft season.  It's been really great how they start up conversations with folks.  I really talk up the site.  Think Pink!!!!!  see my post for the latest on  my ventures.

Well, at least this one is more believeable. Everyone lives with stress these days. I guess I better warn my other daughter who has not yet been diagnosed. She has a very stressful job now managing an office with Financial Advisors. The fact that she took infertility drugs loaded with hormones doesn't count anymore? She would have been the more likely of my two girls to have breast cancer. Of course she sees a breast specialist and they keep a very close eye on her considering her sister and I.

I agree about the pink. One of the cake mix companies seemed to have all kinds of new offerings when I was in the store yesterday all decorated with pink on the box front. Altho they looked good I passed them up.

That would explain why so many women I work with have this darned disease! I'll tell you, they just keep adding to our caseloads, expecting more paper production, and when we can't keep up with the demands, more hours for the same money. But holding babies for a living...somehow I can't bring myself to give it up.

I agree about the pink. Seems like everyone is out to make a buck off of breast cancer awareness. I can guarantee that most of those companies are seeing a lot more pennies coming in for all that pink than they are putting out for the cause... but I guess all of those pennies add up, and let's hope they add up to a cure someday soon...

Wouldn't it be wonderful to say, "I will never lose another friend (or mother, or sister, or daughter) to breast cancer!"

Here's to the cure, ladies...if it were only so easy as quitting our jobs. (Which reminds me...docs told my mom, when they couldn't figure out all of her symptoms, that "some women are not 'cut out' to stay home with children," and sent her out to GET a job. Somehow, that didn't cure the symptoms she was having. (LOL Funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same).

Oh POOP!!!!! another stupid excuse for getting this blasted disease. I have always worked in a fairly high pressure job but I thrive in that environment. I wish they would just find a cure, not an excuse!
