quick question about symptoms???

Hi I am a 33 yo woman who about a month and a half ago had sweeling and drainage of my left breast. I dismissed it and it went away after a week or so.Last week my nipple started tingling and the drainage became daily there was blood and a yellowish white mix with pain swelling and tenderness in my breast as well. I went to the doctor and they put me on antibiotics but said it was not normal to get an infection if I wasn't lactating. They sent me for an ultrasound that showed a few cysts in my nipple. Then they scheduled me for a mamo today which I went for ( they didn't tell me much except they needed to take more pictures because they saw  small calcium deposits).

I was wondering if any of this sounded familiar to anyone and if you could give me your thoughts. I am nervous and not sure if I should be.

Hi....I do not know a whole lot about drainage either, but like your dr said, it is not normal. I am glad to  hear your dr is on top of things, sending you for more tests. Hopefully the mammo will give you more info on what is going on. It is soooo hard not to worry, but you are taking the right steps!!!! If you are not comfortable with the results, or your dr isn't either, you can always ask for a breast MRI. Let us know what your results are, and how you are doing. You can always google breast drainage or check out some other sites that may be helpful as well. Please take care!

I went to pick up the results of the mamo this morning. They noted two cysts in my left nipple (small I think) 2.8 mm and 5mm. They also noted calcifications but they radiologist report states he thinks the cysts are begign. I guess I feel better. My doctor hasn't called yet to talk about the results. I guess my biggest concern is about the bloody drainaige. If the cysts ruptured i could understand but if they are still there on the films why am i still having this. Thanks for the feedback .

There are two things about your post that concern me.  The first, of course, is the drainage.  I am glad your doctor is keeping an eye on that.

The second thing that concerns me are the calcifications.  Are they macrocalcifications or microcalcifications?  I had a lot of microcalcifications on my diagnostic mammogram and I ended up being diagnosed with: ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), invasive ductal carcinoma and a colloid (spelling?) carcinoma.

Another question - are you having any other symptoms?  Are you feeling fatigued?  Can't sleep even though you feel tired?  Is your stomach constantly upset?  These are all symptoms of breast cancer.  I learned this from www.breastcancer.org.  You might want to check out that site.

I've had clear yellow drainage from my right breast for 6 months . I've had 2 mamos and ultra sound and they were neg. I recently have begun to have severe joint pain, especially in my fingers and worse in my thumb. Two days ago my breast drainage has turned bloody. Any help? I go to the surgeon tomorrow. Any questions I should be asking.? Any thoughts. Thanks :)

This is something only your doctor is going to be able to provide for you....a dx of what's going on with you. Drainage, and especially bloody drainage, should always be checked out with your doc.
