What are the complications that I should be on the look out for?  I am wondering if I need to drop out of school (I am working on my PhD) to help take care of her.

Hi:

 

I did my Ph.D. and chemo at the same time.  I was in the dissertation process, though.  Incapacitation was rare for me.  I hit the couch on day three, but I had a three year old also, and kept moving for the most part.  You do what you have to.  Don't take time off, but give your director and sponsor a head's up about the situation and plan for the possiblity of needing some time.

Hi,

I started my chemo on Nov. 26th. Had no idea what was going to be like. Heard all these horror stories. And I'm sorry if some women go through it but I went thru it fairly good. I did get nauseous on days 3 and 4 but the meds helped alot. No throwing up. Days 5 and 6 started with dizziness and head pain. Went to the docs, they said it was stress, no kidding!!! My mom got in a real bad car accident on that day and I was worried sick. She's 83 and had 4 broken ribs, broken wrist, small bleed in her head and possible both her feet are fractured or something, they still don't know because they want her to stand on them to get better x-rays. She can't, too painful. I guess that was enough stress to handle on top of the chemo. I am taking ativan for that and I feel great now. Back to my old self again. Hope you get thru This as I did. Let us know. My prayers are with you.

i THINK SHE WILL E FINE.

i HAVE CROHNS DISEASE AND IT HAS WRECKED A BIT OF HAVACK, BUT NOTHING i CAN'T HANDLE i GUESS

wAS REALLY NAUSEATED THE PUKEY UNTIL THEY GAVE ME THE EMEND..THAT HELPED.

SECOND ROUND ON THE 8, AND THIS TIME I HAVE BEEN REALLY NAUSEATED...BUT NO PUKING, AND TODAY BEING THE  5TH DAY, I AM REALLY TIERD.   i COULD NOT IMAGINE HAVING A 3 YEAR OLD RUNNING AROUND...BUT THEN AGAIN I AM 45 LOLOLOL

Hi~
I just finished 6 months of chemo. The first course was Adrimiacin+cytoxin and the second course Taxol. I had no trouble with the first course [be sure to take your Emend and they gave me Aloxi before my treatment]. The Taxol gave me a lot of muscle aches that have lingered, but everything is doable. Good luck and hang in there!!
