Christi! Wow, a name from the past, so glad to see you! I'm so glad to see you, been thinking about
you lots!
Most interesting...
I wondered about the chemo link, but in my case there appears to be a family hx of it, and what I read indicates that there is often a genetic link. I also look back at my school pictures back to junior high and have the same large thyroid visible back then....I think I've had it for years and years. My thyroid levels are also normal....I've had several blood tests over the years and always normal...which annoys me that no doc ever took it further to figure out why my thyroid was large.
The u/s was done, found 2 nodules. Radioactive scan said benign. My doc wanted me to just come back in 4 months for repeat blood but I asked to see an endo when I learned of my family hx....the endocrinologist started me immediately on meds....said that it would help control the growth of the thyroid and the nodules, and the blood test confirmed Hashimoto's. I've read that it is sometimes used to treat Hashi's. Endo also wants to do a FNA on the nodule, just to be sure....
Christi, I immediately hoped that my thyroid was to blame for the Tamox weight gain not coming off, and the post-Tamoxifen gain....also hoping it is to blame for my poor sleep. Plus the pill is smaller than Tamoxifen, good thing, as I'll be on it for life!
Christi, feel free to email me, do you still have my addy?
Glad you popped in to share! Hope you are well!
