Thinking back to our first Cincinnati meeting...

It all began when I wrote that I was going to Cincinnati area to my grand daughter's high school graduation.  I asked if those who lived in the area wanted to get together for lunch.  It grew from there to a very special time in all our hearts and memories.  Some of you met my grand daughter at lunch the first day there.

Well, this May she is graduating from medical school.  Yes, Dr. Rebekah Stroup!!!!  Her residency will be in Chattanooga, TN.  She is specializing in breast surgery!!!!!  It will take another five to seven years for her to finish schooling completely, but she is dedicated and I'm sure she will be a good doctor!!

And Friday my son, her father, will turn 50!!! Good grief, I am getting old! LOL!  And, I finally found out the reason I was hospitalized in January.  Although the four days of IV antibiotics really did me some good, no one was sure what my problem was other than a vague infection, shadows in the CT scan----.  Well, my PC dr put it all together at my visit last week when I told her I still had the same pains and problems.  My colonoscopy had showed diverticula.  Evidently, an infection formed in there and and wa la Diverticulitis!!! The IVs knocked it down for awhile, but when the effect wore off it blew up again.  So now I am eating a smooth diet, taking oral antibiotics and hoping for healing.  Gees who said these were the Golden Years?

Dear MK...I hit the big 50 myself today. I told my grandbaby that finally, Dobbe is old, so now I don't have to worry about getting old anymore! I'm there, and it doesn't feel any different than yesterday did! She was quite tickled. She called me last night and said, "Dobbe, can we have a surprise party for your birthday?" I said, "Sure. When you get here, Dobbe will go out with the dogs, and you can all hide, and when I come back in, you can jump out and say, "Surprise!" So that is what we did. It was the best surprise party I have ever had.

I think Brianna's mom and your Rebekah graduated the same year. Brittany is finally getting her Bachelor's degree next month. She will be packing off to grad school in NC, and that is going to be really hard for ALL of us.

I think the golden years are always the ones behind us. I hope there are a lot more of them for us to look back on, don't you???
