Experience with herceptin?

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but thank goodness it is stage I. This is a very winnable fight for you! I was borderline Her 2 + in 1999 and they were not doing Herceptin for early stage ca then. My friend is in treatment right now, she just finished with her AC and Taxol, is now on Herceptin every 3 weeks until about October. She tolerates it very well, just feels tired for a day or so but thinks it is not bad at all.

Others here have had Herceptin and should be able to offer you better feedback.

My protocol required a 17 courses (every 3 weeks). I finished over a year ago. I had fatigue, but it was hard to separate out there for a while from the chemo. I also had aching my legs. I still believe, though my oncologist disagrees, that my itching of my lower legs (I called it the heebie-jeebies) was related to my herceptin. I never had a rash or swelling or any difficulties breathing, but I did have very itchy skin that cleared up about one month after my herceptin treatments stopped.

All in all, it was less troublesome than chemo and I'm glad I had it.
