Hi everyone!  Wish me luck tomorrow.  I go in for a mastectomy of my right breast.  I keep telling people to take a good look, cuz it will be gone.   tongue   I am trying to keep my humor.  This is just the beginning for me, so I hope I can keep it up throughout the treatment and whatever they find with the pathology report on the whole thing.  They were able to get the tumor last time with the lumpectomy, but the cancer is growing along the blood vessels to the margins, so I am worried about how far past that it goes. 

 

My sister is visiting me from Ohio now, but she goes back Friday morning.  confused Her plans were made before the 2nd surgery was scheduled.  At least, she's keeping my mind off of things. 

 

After reading a lot of your posts, I realize how little I know so far about my cancer and it has made me realize that I need to get a he__ of a lot more information, but I will do it.

Kathy, good luck tomorrow.  Will be there right next to Gail (cause she's bringing the chocolate).  WIll send some prayers your way.  Just let your last thought before falling asleep be of us all praying for ya, and wearing pink boas, and eating your chocolate..

It's Halloween so I'm going to use my broom instead of the PCE, but I'll be wearing a pink boa. I'll bring lots of chocolate, hot and cold.

 

Prayers are on their way for you and your surgery.

Kathy... tell Diana hello from me.  I know everything will be fine for you tomorrow.  Please know that I will be thinking of you and the rest of your family.  I am assuming  that I will hear from Steve or Paula tomorrow or tell Diana to email me.

Kathy: I am there with you. All will be fine. We Breast Friends will be holding your hand and asking for guideance for your Doctor's hands. Please keep us posted. Your are right, knowledge is power and we need all the power we can get. It makes us stronger and confident to help heal and move on with life.

Hi everyone!  I am doing very well.  This time was SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the last!  It was a simple mastectomy.  The surgeon said it went well and the lymphs were negative (even though I thought the last time a couple were positive).  It's actually not that bad not having a booby!  LOL  The pain has been minimal.  I will have to wait for the pathology report to see how far the cancer went along the blood vessels.  Hopefully it's contained in the breast tissue.  I came home the same evening.  I had to wait quite awhile for the doctor to come to my room, because he was stuck doing something.  The nurses and all the staff at the hospital were great.  My nurse in the prep/recovery room was fantastic!  She had a mast in '89 with chemo and a tram flap.  She's doing fine and was very comforting to me.  She even came by my room later.  Wasn't that sweet?  I am able to get around at home and you can bet I won't over do it.  I learned my lesson! 

 

Thanks so much for all the hugs, chocolate, etc.  It really helped!!!
