pelvic sonogram detected abnormality

Well, I thought I was in the clear, but....

 

There's something with my endometriwhatever.  It's probably the thickening of the walls due to the Tamoxifen, but there's a risk of endometriwhatever cancer with tamoxifen, something I forgot about.  Wouldn't that be a kick if I sailed through the bc and then the treatment does me in?

 

sorry so black, he did a very painful and uncomfortable biopsy and I'm cranky. 

 

Mom was with me, that was good.

 

results next friday at the earliest

 

till then.....

(((Ellen))), There is a risk of endometrial cancer with tamoxifen. While I was on it, my gyn ordered pelvic u/s AND vaginal u/s's every 6 mos. To this day I believe it was those repeated u/s's which saved me from dealing with another type of cancer. The uterine lining thickens markedly while on tamoxifen. Did you have a baseline u/s when you first began tamoxifen??? Ask you dr. what the u/s showed in millemeters re: the uterine lining. If it's in the 7.5 - 9 mm. span you need to address this issue now. For me once it passed 7 mms. I had to start thinking about whether or not I'd continue the drug. The gyn. agreed with my decision to discontinue taking it once it passed 7.5 mms. My onc., however, got very huffy when I told him I wouldn't be taking it any longer. He told me that "we don't worry about anything until it's at 9 mms. and then you'll have a hysterectomy." We parted ways after that appt.; I felt he was crass and disrespectful of my needs. His mantra about tamoxifen was "but it's a good drug." It IS a good drug, just not for me. Hope this helps. Hugs, Luci

Ellen, I had cervical and uterine biopsies done in a doctor's office once and only once. It hurt like hëll and I made myself a promise to (un)intentionally knock that darn dr to the floor some day. I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I mentioned it to a friend who was horrified and said that when she needed them, she went to outpatient surgery and was put under a general anesthetic.  I thought that was the worst thing I had ever heard until I found out that a mastectomy was considered "outpatient surgery".

 

I am certainly praying that your results will just show an old pork chop bone in a rather unusual place. We're all waiting with you.

Hey Ellen, I am dragging my behind after my week away, and am trying to catch up on the posts here and there. Just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
