Nerve pain in breasts

Hey. I don't have breast cancer, but thought maybe you all could answer a question for me. I had a breast reduction in January, and since, my breasts are very tender and have shooting pain in them that varies depending on what part of the month it is. Usually it is not both breasts, it's usually the right side. The last time I went to the surgeon, he said it was from nerves that were cut during the surgery and it would go away in time.

I figured some of you have had breast surgery (I know mine was elective, and in no way do I mean to offend anyone here or make it seem like I've been where you are) so maybe you have had similar pain. Does it go away eventually? Should I worry that it's been 11 months and I'm still having "nerve" pain? When it does hurt, to apply pressure makes it feel better, so I walk around holding my breast (my friends are used to it, so they don't even notice anymore).

Maybe a pain clinic doc could come up with a nerve block for you. Some spinal nerves run around to the front. I had an injection last week that surprised me by running to my bely button.

Becky small nerves are cut during surgery and they do regenerate at about 1 mm per day so it can take awhile.

I still feel numbness along ths scars from my reconstruction. Surgery was only a couple of months ago and I expect it will take many months for feeling to come back. On occasion I feel shooting pain and found that cupping them with your hands pressing on them VERY, VERY lightly really eases and stops the pain.
Works for me.

I didn't know it was cut nerves causing the pain. Glad you posted that....now I know.
