I know the fear you are going through.  My spot was also tender, but in my case, there was definitely a mass of something.  It wasn't a lump exactly - I just knew it was something.  Your best bet is to get to your doctor as soon as possible and get a mammogram.  Hopefully, it will be nothing.  Try not to let the fear take over!  Even if it is something, hopefully you've caught it early and it can be taken care of.  Good luck and please post here any time.  These ladies have a lot of experience to share.  I am one of the newer members here - since Sep.

Thank you for your support.  This is driving me insane!  I have an a.m. appointment for an exam so hopefully I will soon be armed with knowledge, one way or another.  I am so glad I found this site, I needed some common ground with someone(s).  Thank you, Kathy and Lauri, thank you.  Jenny

I reallythought I had posted a welcome to you this morning. I must have forgotten to submit??? You are doing the right thing by getting it checked out as soon as possible. With some family history you really want to be on top of your own situation, but don't let it worry you until you know you have something to be worried about. I was diagnosed as was my older daughter and my younger daughter keeps close watch and is all clear to date. She had a benign lump removed. So just be watchful, have anything and everything checked out. The only way to know for sure if there is any cancer cells is to have a biopsy, so don't let the doctors try to tell you what they "think" something is now or anytime. Hugs, MK

No news for now - but that is good news for a start I think.  I had the clinical breast exam, the ob/gyn said she felt nothing there.  So at least I was not in denial on that.  She questioned my family history and diet habits.  Recommended mammogram and/or ultrasound based on history and the tenderness.  Couldn't schedule today though.  Thinking of having a thermogram to start - anyone ever heard of or had one of these?  Thank you all for the welcome and quick support.  I had no idea such great groups of people were available!  May I also extend my sincerest applause to each of you for having such great attitudes and the time to help others.  I know we are all in our own fight to survive, I hope I may help others also. :-)   Jenny

I've only had a mammogram, so don't know about the thermogram.  Never heard of it.  Thanks for you support, too!  I will be thinking of you and praying that things are OK.

Hi Jenny, I understand that test works like a heat sensor. Are we talking about the same thing? The old fashioned way to test like this was the surgeon placed his hands on both sides and held you to see if there was a temp difference. This only worked on larger tumors if I remember correctly. Anyway I could be wrong. Not sure. but wanted to say hi. Hugs and wish you luck, Joyce

From my limited understanding, a thermogram is an infrared scan using a camera type sensor that gives a digital image of the temperatures on your body. What they look for is the independent blood supply to a cancerous tumor in the breast. I guess these blood vessels will not shrink in response to a cooler temperature change like the other blood vessels in your breast so the bad vessels stand out in sharp relief. Supposedly this tool can find the beginnings of a tumor long before a mammogram. I am considering it b/c the obgyn did not feel any lumps and because it is mush less invasive. If the thermogram would show the new blood vessels then I would immediately have a mammo to pinpoint the tumor. That's my take. I was hoping that someone else had had one or knew someone to be able to tell me good or bad. Anyway, thanks again to each of you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving week! Jenny
