Hello Ladies,

I have received permission from Peter Waite to post this request.

I am co-authoring a book on Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

It will act as a sort of guide book for individuals facing the prospect of genetic counseling and testing.

We are still looking for individuals to interview for this book. We hope to include many stories of people who have faced hereditary cancer.

We need to interview people who:

1. Have had cancer, tested for the BRACA 1 or 2 gene and received a negative result.

2. Have had cancer, with a strong family history and have decided NOT to have genetic testing.

Your story will be used only first name, only after a release is signed.

We are donating 20% of any proceeds to FORCE.

Kim, I don't qualify for your project either. I was the first in my immediate family to be diagnosed with breast cancer, so there is no family history or reason to suspect genetic involvement. But, I wanted to wish you good luck. I went to a genetics seminar and the counselor who held it listed a whole bunch of factors, like other cancers in family members. I talked to her one on one and she said my daughter would be the one to be tested if it was to be done, not me. Of course my daughter is not interested.................. I was not surprised. My son's daughter has two grandmothers with breast cancer diagnosis but her mother's doctors say that is not significant, altho her maternal grandmother was diagnosed at a younger age than I which is also a factor to be considered. At any rate I don't know of a story to tell other than the diagnosis age and prognosis at this time is great for both of us.
